  1. Hello all, I have been gaming a G425 "4" wood (5w turned down to 16.5) for the past 4-5 years and initially liked it, but have been fighting the lefts the past season. Looking to make the change into a TSR model and was wondering which head you guys would recommend. Looking to go demo some from a used bin at my local shop and was planning on picking up a new stick at our golf expo coming up. I know the TSR woods are super popular.

    Thanks!

Just about all adjustable clubs close the face when the loft is increased.

A 3W adjusted to 16.5 will be more draw biased than a 5W adjusted to the same 16.5 degrees. That doesn’t explain why a 5W is now drawing more than in the past. If your local shop has a simulator that can determine if your swing path or face setup is the root of the pull, that may help you get a solution.

I have an outside-in swing path by nature with fairways and the driver. I set up with a slightly open stance, which forces an inside-out path. I set my driver at B3 and the 16.5 at A3. My GT2 18 is at D3, 910F 21 at C3 and TSR1 23 at A2. I’m completely dead straight.

My bad swing is a pull (nothing horrible) and the root cause is the right foot getting stuck. It is an anomaly that suddenly pops up (maybe, maybe not) and I follow through a little left.

Hi, I think the 16,5 deg 3 wood is relatively square, particularly the tsr3 model.
The 5 wood is 18 degrees, if adjusted at C1 for a right handed golfer, the degree come to 17,25 and the face will be just a bit more open.

If you take the 16,5 degrees and place the surefit to B1, you still have a 16,5 degree with the face just a bit open.

I hope my explanations are clear to readers.

I’m playing a TSR2 16.5 with 42.5” Diamana 70 and 7g weight. It has an anomaly vs GT2, GT3 16.5: 57* lie angle vs 56.5*. The “proof is in the pudding” in the left attached image. Even though it is set at A3 still “technically” a 4 wood (old school loft is 18).

Any 15 fairway can be made to a “strong 4 wood” at 16.5.

    I’m not a fan of D2 (-0.75 lie angle and loft). I usually play D3 or A3 (my 9 wood is A2). C3 on a 910F.

I play a GT2 18 with stock shaft for courses with tighter fairways.

If you’re into used clubs, TSR2 16.5. Details are in my other post.
