    Hello,

I current play SZ irons but have grown to hate the feel of them. I shot around 100 per round and my chipping and putting have become much better the past few months while my iron play has stalled or become worse. Would the AP1s still be a good club for someone of my skill level?

    Thanks,

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

I think the AP1's will be perfect for you.  They look great and are forgiving.  I recommend going to your local fitter and giving them a shot.  I think you won't be disappointed.  Let us know how it turns out!!!

The ap1 are great for higher handicaps. I would also recommend the AP2.

I play as a 6 (primarily because of my short game) and play the AP1s (2010 model).  I tried both the AP1 and AP2 before deciding on the AP1.  They are definetly more forgiving than the AP2.  The head is larger and thicker.  The bottom insert helps your ball get airborne.  I was able to control the AP1 a little better than the AP2, though had about 5-10 yards of additional distance in the AP2.  Short iron play is not my strong suit and I love these clubs.  I'm considering mixing my set and using AP2 2-7 irons and 8-pw AP1.  As previously stated, go to your local golf shop or golf speciality store and get fitted (preferably with launch monitor).  You may find that though you love the Titleist brand there may be something else better suited for your game.  Then again, maybe not.

Thanks to everyone for the input! I work at a course as a cart attendant and spoke with the pro yesterday. He said the AP1s would be good but before he did the fitting he wanted to work on my swing first then tweak the clubs after if needed. Does this make sense?

    Eric,

It seems to make perfect sense. If he can help you with your swing, then you can get a more accurate reading when you get fit. For example, you may need the lie adjusted a couple of degrees right now, but if your swing improves, those changes may not be necessary.
