Hi
I have a loyal but ageing set of DKI 981 irons in my bag and I am looking to upgrade. Would you recommend the AP1 or the AP2's as the equivelant but newer model?

Back in the late 90's, I got fitted and purchased a set of DCI 962's which I loved. I played the 962's until I hung up the clubs for an eight year sabatical from golf due to raising a family and other financial and time constraints.
Last year I broke out the 962's and got back to the playing golf. After playing a few months, I decided to upgrade my equipment and now play the AP2's. Without a doubt, they are the best club I have owned to date.
In comparison to my 962's, I find the AP2's to be more forgiving on mishits and softer on a well struck ball. My ball flight is slightly higher with the AP2's and I feel I am more accurate, but the accuracy is probably due to an improved swing rather than the club itself.
I couldn't be happier with the AP2's. A great feeling club that is forgiving on mishits and still allows the ability to work the ball.

Tim,
My first set of Titleist irons was a set of DCIs, then I upgraded to 990s, and this past fall I purchased a set of AP2s. Without a doubt, the AP2 irons are the best irons I have owned, in every category. They glide through the ball like butter, mis-hits are forgiving, trajectory and distance are very consistent, and to top it off they just look awesome! My two cents are:
If you play every day, or at least four to five times a week, can really work the ball in both directions, and have a consistent swing, the AP1's might be what you're looking for, but if you play "as much as you can" and have the occasional off day as far as your swing goes, I would suggest the AP2's. All-in-all though, you really just need to go get a Titleist fitting to see which head, and especially shafts, work for you and your swing.
I have no doubt though, that whatever you decide, if it says Titleist on it, you will be very, very happy with whatever sticks you pick!
Keep it in the short grass!

I am trying to replace a lost DCI 9818L 8 iron, steel shaft. Any suggestions? Thank you.
