I recently bent my 60 wedge into a 58 and took out my 56 and 52 ( i never hit the 52) and kept a 48. Should i put the 56 back in the bag? So far I havent had any full swing what would be a 56 so I think ill be fine, but would love your opinions.

    Thanks.

What do you use out of bunkers? What is the bounce on your 56? You should have one high bounce wedge if you have get out of a soft bunker or thick grass. If your 60 has a 7 deg bounce, bending it to 58 would make the bounce 5 deg. I didn't find added value in carrying a 52, given that I am pretty adept at working a PW.

i hit my 60 out of bunkers and when i bent it to a 58 it worked just the same. I am enjoying having a lighter bag without those 2 wedges.

I use 60* inside 30y to the green and short sand shots, PW for most sand shots and outside 30y to the green. Its jsut easier to get the feel around the green using 1 wedge. This is what Jack taught but he used SW instead of LW, and I don't know if he put a limit on the distance he used the SW(probably not him be much better).

Now there are some that would say Jack's reasoning is WRONG,  but they have a strictly mechanical approach to the short game. And there is nothing wrong with a mechanical approach if that is what works for you. But for some people it is easier to use 1 wedge and learn the many things you can do with it.

If your 60 was a high bounce wedge then bending to 58 shouldn't be a problem, but if it wasn't then you reduced the bounce by 2*. If your 56 has a low bounce you could bend it to 58 and increase the bounce 2*, but the feel will be different and take some getting used to, because the SW is a heavier clubhead. Of course the heavier clubhead may make getting the feel easier, my putter is 400g and getting the feel for it took no time.

There is nothing WRONG with playing the game how it best works for you.

I had a 258-12 wedge between 2007-2009 and that worked well for about 90 percent of the short game under 50 yards. Its limitation was long bunker shots Also, I built some irons and I used the sand wedge probably for about 90% of the shots within 50 yards. My go to shot at 35 yards was a half swing pitch with the SW. My basic premise was use a SW whenever there was any turf within 25 yd. If the lie was a bit tight I used a 60. I switched to a Vokey Spin-Milled 60-07 at the beginning of the year. Within 25 yards of the pin it is my go-to wedge. I'll use it in a bunker if the sand is firm I recently acquired a Vokey Spin Milled c-c 54-11 and a Spin Milled 64-07. I use the SW for about 90 percent of my pitch shots between 30-50 yards and 99 percent of my bunker shots. I use the 64 when I have to hit out of a bunker with about 10 feet between the pin and the edge of the green or when I have to drop the ball on a dime (no such animal as a chip shot with a 64 - you either take a 1/2 or full swing). My 9 and PW are Eye 2 and the lofts are like today's PW and GW (46 and 50 deg). I don't try to take full golf shots with a sand wedge at 80 yards. I'll pitch a 9 iron or take a square stance pitch with a PW.
