Hey guys, I have a 910 H @ 19*. My DCI irons are all 1" long as well as my 3 vokeys. I am not hitting the hybrid cleanly but can hit my driver and fairway clean and properly. Do I need a longer shaft on the hybrid since it is more like an iron!?? It feels too short. Could it be where the ball is in my stance? I hit woods/driver off front foot and irons in middle. Thanks for the help!

Take your normal stance and try to grip the club. If you are gripping the very butt of it, the club is too short. Yeah, have a shaft extension installed. Cost is under $20 with a new grip. The hybrid should be played forward of center, about 2" or so behind the front foot. You don't want a descending blow like an iron. You want to sweep it like a wood.

Lou, thanks for the input.  Can you just add an extension to a graphite shaft??

    thanks

They make them. Golf Galaxy and Golfsmith carry these kinds of things. Golf Mart (Roger Dunn Golf Shops) can lengthen your club in their repair department. The cost of a lengthening at any of these places is about $13-18 or so with the grip. I have a 10 wood that I lengthened from 40" to 41" (steel shaft). This is my go to club for 170 yard shots and I can actually work it down to 150 yards. 4 years ago I had a Snake Eyes Q3A 34 degree hybrid where the stock length was 36". I had a 1" extension added and I was able to hit it 160 yards (still kicking myself for selling it in 2008 - I had a G10 32 deg hybrid that replaced it because I could hit the latter almost 170 yards). If you are falling forward when trying to address the ball, a shaft lengthening is in order. Too short of a shaft causes a push or even too steep of a swing (and you chunk it as a result because you dip your front shoulder). The limit to shaft extension is an inch or so. That is advice from clubfitters and the Net.

That's exactly whats happening on my hybrid!  Heading to Golf Galaxy tomorrow!  Need a new grip on my 905R as well so might as well kill two birds!

    thanks!

In addition, my personal experience is that the 3 and 4 iron hybrids are not easy to hit. The 910 F fairway can be adjusted to 20.5 degrees. I found out about 4 years ago that I can't hit a hybrid above 26 degrees loft. My long game combo has been driver-3W-7W and either a 5H or a lofted wood since 2007. I've also alternated between carrying a 34H and the 6 and 7 irons. To be honest with you, some of the pros are fessing up to carrying a 7 wood. Gary Player (although he is a Callaway guy) stated in "Playing Lessons From the Pros" that he could have had one more Masters if he had a 9 wood in the bag. I've been carrying a 7 wood for 5 years now and I love it!
