    Hi,

I was wondering what kind of distance I can expect by replacing my 3 wood.  I'm currently hitting my 21 degree 910h (Proforce V2 89 gram shaft) about 215-220 carry and I can hit it flush about 85% of the time. I struggle with my 3 910F wood (Proforce V2 76 gram), I can hit it flush about 30% of the time, and I can get about 250 yards total when the "right constellations" of stars are aligned .

I have tried indoor 17 degree 910h and I like the consistency, but don't have enough data to make a inform decision. I might be looking at a Proforce V2 89 S shaft as well.  My question is, what would be the expected distance on the course? I understand there are other factors involved but a plus minus would be ok.

    Thanks,

    Omar

Loft-wise, a 15 degree hybrid is the equivalent of a 3 wood but it is also not an easy club to hit (after all, it IS a 1 iron). I personally find a fairway wood easier to hit vs a longer hybrid. I carry a 5H in place of the 4 and 5 irons so I have room for a 3 wood and 64 wedge. With the 17 you should expect about 10-15 yards more than the 21. Unless you have a nice plush lie, a 3 wood is hard to hit off the fairway. I generally use it on short par 4s or 190-200 yard par 3s off the tee. When I was young, I could average about 260-270 and hit my longest drive (325 yd) with one. I can hit a 3 wood off the deck, but the 7 wood is my goto fairway wood (the latter is pretty accurate and it is my scoring wood on the 185 yd par 3s). I made an adjustment to my 3 wood so that it is 1/2" longer than my 7 wood. A lot easier to hit overall.

As long as you hit it farther than the 21* you should be good to go, you want to hit it at least as good as the 3w 70% of the time.

    omar,

i had the same problem when i was at my driver fitting.  from my experience, i would say that you may be +- 5yds of your 910f.  part of it comes down to your launch angle, but the big thing for me was the shaft length.  the fitter saw right away that the shorter shaft in the 17* 910h was helping me flush it.  the result was that i was launching the ball higher and hitting it about as far as my 15* fairway wood.  of course, your mileage may vary.

if you can afford it, get an outdoor fitting session.  it really opened my eyes to my bag setup.

I'm the opposite. I could hit an 18 degree fairway wood better and much farther than a 17 hybrid. A 17 hybrid is almost as long as a 7 wood. Honestly, a lot of people actually hit a 5 wood (18 or 19 deg) just as far as (or farther than) a 3 wood. I just replaced my Burner 3 wood with an R7.

This is a follow up for those who might be interested to know.  I have bought a 17 degree hybrid as I mentioned in on original post and I can not be happier with the choice I did. Off the tee I'm getting 245+ yards drives, I play with a friend of mine and I hit shots up to 265 yards, he didn't understood why I was still having my driver on my bag.  This club makes me take my hat in front of Titleist design team and congratulate them, the hybrid is amazing easy to hit it straight, fade or draw. Out of about 20 drives of the tee, so far I have miss a couple of fairways but not bad misses, this is my TO GO club when struggle with my driver. I hit a stinger about 230 yards and like 10 feet of the ground in a windy day, normal hits are high and nice... love the club!!!

    Thanks Titleist design team!!!

I'm just dreaming what would it be with a 15 degree 910 hybrid....

I had a 15 deg G10 hybrid (AWT steel r flex). Hard to hit but could actually get 230 yards from it dead straight. I would have to admit (at the time) that it was easier to hit than a 3 wood (then again, I didn't hit woods quite like I do now).
