It is often overlooked but many ametures pull the club back when starting their swing. It makes you dip your lead shoulder and slide your hips making you off balanced.
Pushing back is the much better option. Pushing the club back at stsrt of swing keep shpulders on a even plane. Helping the club be square at impact. Analogy: imagine you have two plates of food on your shoulders(one on each) you don't want to spill them so you push back to keep them both on your shoulders.
