  1. I've played golf since I was 12. Around 30 I started playing weekly, and that has increased to an average of 3 rounds a week, and around 150 or so per year. My index ranges between a 4 and a 7 over the past 20 years, depending on what's going on with me, my job and how much extra practice I'm putting in. Still as of last March when I turned 49, I'd never had an ace. But in the last 13 months, I've had TWO. First one was last June on a par-3 17th hole from 148 yards at El Dorado Park Golf Course here in Long Beach, CA. This was a critical shot because I went from 9-over on the round to 7-over and parred 18 to break 80 with a 79. Interestingly enough, though I play Titleist (I toggle between Pro V1 and Pro V1X) balls exclusively, on that day, I was playing another ball, who's brand and model I will not specify. But last Sunday, justice was restored, as I aced the par-3 9th hole from 190 yards at the same course, El Dorado Park, with a brand new Pro V1X! I was three-over going into the 9th, so I went out at 1-over 37. Funny, but while I'm proud of the second ace of my lifetime, I was most proud to back up the ace, but parring 8 of the final 9 holes to finish with a 2-over 74. Nobody wants an ace during a crap round. I'm thankful that my first two ace were both meaningful shots within good rounds. The only bummer was that the ball I made the ace with was a brand new Pro V1X and I had to put it away as a keepsake. But it was well worth losing a brand new ball for the unforgettable moment!
