When Covid 19 forced me into retirement, golf became my almost daily retreat. I met four other seniors who quickly became my friends and regular playing partners. Today, with everyone watching, I holed out on # 14, "The Arkansas Hole" at Eagle Hill Golf Course, Little Rock. The hole was playing 106 yards from the senior tees to a peninsula green shaped like the great state we live in. That’s why it’s called The Arkansas Hole.
I struck a 9 iron perfectly. The yellow Titleist golf ball landed a few feet from the flag, rolled, then disappeared. Everyone cheered.
“Have you ever had a hole in one?” they asked.
“Yes,” I told them, “But that was twenty-five years ago.”
I’ll be a super super senior if it takes another twenty-five years before my next Hole in One.
