Yesterday was my 29th Birthday (July 12th) and three friends and I decided to play one of our favorite courses in Carlsbad, CA - The Crossings. We have played here multiple times in the past, including a golf league over the summer, "Hits and Giggles" - a 9 hole round with a few beers provided by the course aka a fun time... but on to the story!
We came up on the 9th hole which is a 100 yard par 3 with a front-to-back downward sloped green and a few bunkers on the left edge and a hill on the right to funnel your shot. After two of my buddies teed off, I stepped up to hit with my rather old but trusty wedge and a Titleist TruFeel. I eyed where I hoped the ball would fly and took a swing. It went high up in the air and was making good distance. After what seemed like forever, it came back down to the earth, hitting the front left edge of the green with a soft *thud* and immediately rolled ever so gradually to the pin. After a few seconds we lost sight of the ball (thinking it rolled to the back of the green and out of eye-shot due to the slope). We stood there for a bit, a little in shock as to what might have happened, until my friends told me to run up there to make sure.
I dashed to the fairway and came running up to the green to find the ball was nestled right by the pin on top of the noodle they put in the cup (this is during COVID fyi). I LOST IT! This is my first hole-in-one and it was on my freaking birthday!! I threw my hat in the air and immediately screamed, "LET'S GO!" to which my buddies cheered! Moreover, just to make it even better, there were people eating brunch at the club house, which sits just behind the green, that started to cheer and clap for me so I spun and took a bow.
After catching my breath and taking a picture, my friends and I went straight to the snack bar on the turn and I bought everyone a round of shots. To say the least, this was the best birthday I've ever had and I don't think another one will be able to top it!
