I’ve played golf for 30 years and I’ve had so many close calls until finally it came on May 16 2020. It was a short par 3, hole 7 at Pigeon Creek Golf Course in West Olive, MI. The hole was playing 123 and with a cross down wind from the left, favoring a high cut shot. Hole was located in the middle front third of the green that day. I really didn’t hesitate to grab my 50 deg Gap Wedge and play a choke down high fade that would land and release. When the ball was in the air close to the green my friend Jeff said, that could go in. It landed and bounced a couple of times before it checked up and rolled out and changed directions slightly at the hole and stopped. Since the hole had the noodle in the cup and we could still see the ball we weren’t sure if it was in the hole or not, we just stood there looking at each other. Finally one of my friends pointed to the group in front of us riding down the next fairway and they were celebrating and yelled, it’s in the hole. At that point I knew it was in. For so long I imaged running down the fairway screaming after my first one but I didn’t do that, was kinda surreal. Ball hit was a Titleist ProV1x #99. 30 years was worth the wait!
