I had resigned myself to never getting a hole in one. I’ve been close several times, and have holed out in many situations. But to record a 1 on the scorecard? I’ve been playing golf about 25 years and just figured it would probably never happen.

Well, I’ve now done it twice in 2 years, both with Titleist golf balls. The first was on March 28, 2021 on the last hole of a Ryder Cup style tournament. I used a Pro V1x and a 6 iron and holed one out from the tee of #9 at the Foundry Golf Club in Powhatan, Virginia (183 yards, 6 iron). About 20 people were watching and it was one of the most exciting times of my life. I watched the ball roll toward the cup and drop in.

My second hole in one occurred earlier today, November 12, 2022, on #7 at the Foundry Golf Club again, this time with a Titleist Tru-Feel ball (173 yards, 6 iron). I saw this ball land, but did not see it go in. It landed about 2 feet short of the cup and hopped in. 2 people in our group, plus the caddie, saw it go in but I missed it. It wasn’t quite as exciting as the first, but still incredible. I’m now left to wonder what percentage of the world’s population has two holes-in-one?
