On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, I was playing at my home course Wildwood Country Club in Louisville, KY, with three other guys in our Wednesday night Men's League. #9 (formerly #18) at Wildwood is one of the most controversial par 3s in Louisville. From the Blue Tees it plays about 195, is uphill and is a forced carry from the tee box, which sits on a hill, over a small pond and valley back uphill to a relatively small green. Guests generally hate the hole and the Members have a love/hate relationship with it. I played my stock shot which is a six iron because the hole generally plays downwind and the ball seems to carry well over the valley. We were playing into the sun late in the evening and so when it came off the club face, which felt too close to the heel for my comfort, I did not see it at first but saw it drawing to the hole from the left (I'm a lefty) about 2/3s of the way to the hole. My Titleist ProV1 Left Dash appeared to bounce on the fringe toward the hole, but we could not see it because it is uphill. One of my partners said that's gonna be close when a bartender who was standing near the green yelled to us "It's in the hole!" Great to have four witnesses, including our senior bartender who actually saw it roll in. Fun times!!
