I was playing with my brother in law for my birthday while on vacation to the California coast. He slam dunked his chip on hole #7 from about 20 yards out. We both celebrate his shot. I comment" that is the shot of the day" to which he replies "not if one of us makes a hole in one". I laugh and say it is never going to happen. He tees off on #8 and hits the center of the green. I get up and hit, seeing it going to be on the green and maybe close I unfortunately look away. My brother in law starts screaming along with a maintenance staff member so I look up and the ball is no where to be seen. In disbelief, I walk to the hole and there it is in the bottom of the cup. Lesson learned if your shot is roughly close, watch it till it stops.
