Beautiful day in southern Georgia was playing with some co-workers for the first time. We were playing best ball 4 person scramble and rolled up to the longest par 3 on the course, #5. So far we had been playing decent and noticing the flag was in the front put the distance around 160yds. Beautiful hole, downhill approx 5-10 yds, thin long green angled back to front protected by bunkers on left and right. Trees on the right is OB and cart path is left that if hit will carry the ball into a for sure best case scenario bogey opportunity. Shot shape is favored to be a draw from teebox if able. I went first as my beloved playing partners gave me grief for pulling my png G425 5 hybrid as they were holding 8 and 9 irons. I reminded them so far we had been playing my short shots from the fairway vs their bombs landing behind trees, in the rough, peoples back yards, etc. Stepped up and hit the ball from the deck as is my common practice even from tee box. Caught it clean, felt good from an easy swing. I watched it disappear into the sunlight and thought, "that'll do for the team, at least a good par opportunity". As I'm walking I hear, "that looks good", "good shot", "oh my god!" "go in" "GO IN THE HOLE!" from my teammates. Collectively they all started jumping up and down celebrating for me. Thinking they were messing with me as I lost it about 50yrds off the club face I grabbed one of them and drove down. Sure enough pitch mark approx 10 feet short and in the hole is my Titleist Velocity with a green shamrock sharpied on. My mark. My ball. First HIO after playing on and off for the last 20yrs. Thank you Titleist.
