I have been playing golf for close to 40 years and have only been as close as 18 inches from a hole in one until the other day. Playing the Kona GC in Hawaii, along with my brother, I hit a pitching wedge on the 122-yard par three 17th Hole, which goes over a gully and on this day the flag was in the bottom left corner out of view from the tee due to shrubbery. I did not see the ball go in the hole, but while approaching the green a resident in the adjacent condo was very excited and yelled down to us that the ball was in the hole. And when I checked, it certainly was. I was playing with a Titleist Pro V1X and used my Taylor Made SIM2 wedge. What a great feeling of accomplishment along with some luck. Unfortunately for my brother, he ended up with a disappointing par.
