This past weekend was my retirement after 31 years in the Navy. We had plans for a great 5-day weekend with the family. My son is now an Ensign in the Navy and about to head to his first submarine in Guam. I am a retiring Captain. We started with a round of golf on Thursday with my son and daughter at Sweetbriar Golf Club in Avon Lake, OH. On the 13th hole of the Legacy course, the hole was listed as 128 yards but was playing short at 112. I approached with a 9-iron. My clubs are my father-in-laws Adams' - which I had re-gripped after he passed away. I was hitting a Red #2 Titleist TruFeel. I approached the shot and new immediately that I had hit is cleanly. It hit the green about 15 feet from the hole, took 2-3 bounces and then we heard the "clink" as it made a final bounce into the cup, hitting the pin. I was astounded...speechless for a moment and then started to scream! My son was picking me up and shaking me while my daughter jumped out of her cart and was running over, whooping on the way! What a great start to the weekend, with my final retirement ceremony on Saturday.
