I knew I was having a good day for a few reasons. I was playing with my youngest son Harry who has fallen in love with the game and has really gotten good. I had a below average front nine but managed to birdie the number one hole. A few holes before my ace I found 3 pro v 1’s while walking up the left rough. The first was marked #88 and began playing with it on the next hole. I hit a tremendous drive, then a pretty chip on the green, just missed the birdie and tapped in for par. I boasted about the ball and then on the next tee shot I hit it long and in the trees. Walking the tree line I found 8 more balls and my son found my #88. More good fortune. I punched out and chipped up and 2 putt bogey. Hole 17 par 3 down hill, into the wind 121 yards. A pretty hole, I played a few weeks before with my brother and best man Michael. Other thoughts…Sister Kathy Merenda, my 8th grade math teacher who I played with there in 1980. Easy pithing wedge, thinking 110 shot. I didn’t get a lot of height but was directly at the pin. Soft greens from a rainy week from Hurricane Deby. My ball landed about 4-5 feet in front of the hole, rolled and disappeared into the cup! Confirmed by our partners, Dick an Clay Wolf, another Father and Son. Dicks hands went up like Touchdown Jesus! High fives and hugs with Harry were exchanged and I finished the round with a great drive, a strong 7 iron and 2 putts on 18 for the par and a 37 on the back nine. Thank you Titleist #88!!! CJ Miller
