Jack Pennypacker, 17 year old grandson of Plantation at Leesburg residents George and Rita Pennypacker scored an “Ace” at the Winter Park Golf Course on December 31, 2024. Some accomplishment for any golfer, no less a highschooler for the Winter Park Wildcats.
It was Jack’s first Hole-in-One but this one was extra special. He stepped up to the 9th hole tee box, 245 yards read the sign. He selected his club, a 4 Hybrid, and then he teed up his Titilest Pro v1 ball. Whack! The ball carried somewhere in the direction of the green but it was out of sight. After much searching he located the ball …in the cup…an Ace!
Yes, but the hole was a par 4! So technically it was also an Albatross or score of three under par, a rare bird indeed. Every sport has its unique lingo, and golf is no exception. Among the numerous terminologies in golf, one that stands out due to its rarity is the “albatross”. It’s an accomplishment that every golfer dreams of, but only a few get to experience. Way to fly, Jack.
