Shoes for after a round

    Hi Ben,

    That's a very interesting question that you posed. Firstly, you indicate that you're looking for something breathable -- I'm afraid that compared to flip flops and sandals all other footwear choices will pale in comparison.

    Having said that, you also indicated that you mentioned an occasional "business" round. Does that mean your attire apres golf is business casual? If so, it can be a bit at odds with your "on course" wear.

    Let's assume that you are going to go straight from the course to the clubhouse - lounge/bar restaurant area. If my round of golf is for a business purpose of sorts, then I will wear a nice polo shirt that is not too "loud" and will wear either a classy pair of shorts or a nice pair of pants (chinos, etc.).

    My footwear will be a choice of bit loafers or perhaps a comfortable driving style shoe. I've included a couple of images below. Please overlook the fact that I need to clean them up -- its still winter where I live so these tend to sit in the closet until Spring time.

    I hope this is some "food for thought".

    Because I work at a private club, we have to have closed shoes, so I keep my ecco shoes handy. But if I'm at a public course, usually sneakers or crocs

    If you're looking for something a little more athletic you can't beat the FJ Hyperflex trainers. More formal, the FJ Professional line has a bunch of options. The latter of which I wear to work every day. The weekends, I wear the Hyperflex.

    Thanks for the input gents. I am going to take a look at all the options above (except for the Ferragamo's). They make great shoes, but a little outside my price range.

    Be yourself! If Folwer can wear some high tops out on tour, you can wear what you like too!

    Ben. get you a pair of custom made Foot Joy Icon Pro golf shoe. These are the shoes that your pro staff wears that are spike less but the soles are made to give you good footing when actually hitting golf balls outside. The pair I ordered and had custom made with any color I choose were taupe and white saddle oxfords. These shoes are so comfortable I am thinking of ordering another pair in either all black or cordovan to wear in a less casual atmosphere on the golf course. I wear these shoes all over town and my feet love them. When you arrive at your club to play golf all you need are your clubs as there are no problems with driving a car with these shoes.

    I can relate! I went from a public course trunk-slammer to a member at a club and I had the same dilemma. Apres-round for me was either flip flops or running shoes.
    I hit the Cole Haan outlet store and grabbed a pair of tan and a pair of black driving mocs and I'm good to go!
    FJ also makes some really nice ones too that I've got my eye on!

    Check out the FJ drivers which are really comfy. Sneakers are another option as long as they are clean and not neon orange.

    FootJoy Professional spikeless line are awesome. I wear them for work and out to dinners or conventions. Hard to pass up the comfort they provide.

    Also the Hyperflex trainers are very comfortable.

    If playing at my home course , I wear loafers to the course and change into golf shoes at my locker or in my car. Back into loafers after round.
    If away loafers left in car or under worse case a pair of loafers can always fit into my bag.
    Best look if wearing shorts and after round removing socks and putting on loafers shows off a great tan line. Will keep people away as you look like you have a deisease.

    FJ has a number of spikeless options. Everything from their club professionals, to dress shoes, to their club casuals. All three will look classy enough for any private club. If you want something more casual, try either the DryJoy Casuals, Contour Casuals, or hyperflex trainers.

    For me personally, I have both the club professionals when I need to be dressy and the Contour Casuals when I need something slightly above my normal flip flops.

    I have a pair of spiked and a pair of spikeless golf shoes. It really is vanity on my part where I want a pair of "after round" footwear. It looks like loafers are the recommended route to go here.

    I just need to get out and try some on. Thanks gents!!

    I say loafers with pants, very easy to slide on after a round. Topsiders or drivers with shorts.

    Those would look especially good with wool knee socks and some FJ shorts.

    I just bought a pair of Footjoy Club Casuals Buckle Loafers, very comfortable and casual/formal enough for shorts or pants. I'm not really a sneaker guy (except for the gym and walking the dog) and at least for me, I don't care to smell/look at other guys feet in flip flops after a round.
