Any ball is going to lose distance and spin as it gets colder. I might use up balls I tried but don't prefer just because I won't be scoring as well and if the course has an over abundance of leaves, I may lose a couple that way. But I don't buy a softer ball hoping it compresses better. A softer ball 5 yards shorter than a Pro-V1 at 75 degrees will still be 4-5 yards shorter than the Pro-V1 at 35 degrees.

I usually use all of the Titleist balls that I found during the summer. But it snowed here at the Jersey Shore yesterday, so I'm not using any for a while.

I play the ProV1 year round.I expect some distance loss,but not a lot.

Since the AVX became available to me almost a year ago to try, I was able to see it perform in the cold mid 30s and 40 degrees. What I've noticed significantly was that I was or my drives were reaching the same spot and sometimes past the spot where I would normally play from when I was using the Pro V1 ball during summer when the ball would travel longer, and I liked that very much about the AVX.

Spin: I was reporting to Cathi last March/April or so about how I was getting good spin with the AVX at the time I was playing them in the cold months. I've also liked the reactions/responses I was getting when I play the AVX in the warmer/hot weather- and it was even longer!

Ball Characteristic: I'm just a weekend golfer so what I can say and noticed about the difference between the AVX and Pro V1 is that the AVX flies a little lower and it's another reason why I like it when it's a windy day. I also want to say that it cuts a little more in the wind for some reason. Yes, high shots gets affected more than the piercing trajectory, but there is a difference between the two balls (in the wind) and I much prefer the AVX on a windy day. I feel that it is an advantage to have a longer ball and a ball that flies lower or easier to keep under the wind. I almost forgot to say that AVX feels softer to me.

Short Answer: Yes, I have changed balls and will change ball type between hot and cold weather as long as Titleist provides us with the choices appropriate for the weather and even course conditions.

True, anytime we change balls, we change our game, too. But that is my whole point. I want to change it because the weather conditions have changed. I think we here, and the other folks who loves Titleist are lucky to have three different premium choices of Pro V1, Pro V1 X, and the AVX.

I used to sometimes switch from my Pro V to an NXT Tour S and have even tried a few TruSofts, but since I started playing the AVX when they first came out in limited markets, and seeing such great results from them, I am playing AVX year round now. It was a great ball for me all Spring, Summer and Fall, so I have no plans to change this Winter.

Usually switch to the balls given out at outings. No need to lose AVX or PV1 in wet cold conditions.

I switch to my used somewhat scuffed ProV's that I collect during the year. Or some lower compression yellow ball that may be easier to find in the leaves. For these rounds during late fall or early winter, I'm just happy to be out playing.

I found out that balls don’t have compression numbers anymore!! Better just to use the same ball u normallly use ! Just to take the what if out of the golf

I play Pro V1x year round, but if there is a lot of leaves and I expect to lose a couple in them, I may dig a few out of my shag bag that aren't too dinged up (still v1x, balls I've found or have been beat up from playing), just so I don't waste brand new ones.

Nope. I just accept it is going to fly a few yards shorter. I used to try and switch but then it would affect the short game too much and that matters more.

I play the same ball the year round. Prov1s. I just adapt with more or less club, depending on the weather conditions. Why change a ball you trust and are used to?

I started using NXT balls this winter. I normally play tour soft.

I normally use Tour soft but this winter I decided to use NTX while it’s cold.

When I lived in the SF Bay Area I never felt a need to change balls or really the way I played until the wet spring conditions (not to lose balls the disappeared into the very moist fairway). Here in Colorado I finally relented and changed To the NXT from a Pro V1x with much colder temps, very hard ground along with changing approach shots. I tried to play more run to the hole shots and it “appeared” that my run distance at the hole worked better with the NXT. My unpostable scores were a bit lower. I attributed that to what seemed to be less affect the ground had when landing between the first and last hole as the ground warmed and became slightly more forgiving. I felt the runout as I tried to adapt worked better for me.

I change to Velocity during the winter.... mainly to preserve stocks of softer models for better weather.
I bought the Velocity as a distance ball anyway, so it sort of justifies my original purchase!

I like the confidence that a brand new ProV1 gives me on the first tee, so regardless of weather, I tee up a new one.

I also pull out my older ProV's that may not be "tournament" quality. Typically play a couple balls when going out this time of year. Hard to get in 18 so mainly just practice and enjoying the outdoors

I switch to the Tour S in Optic Yellow. Easier to find.

I stay with pro v1 all year. I think staying with the same ball that works for you helps to keep your game more consistent.

I would like to say that I don't, but I crave distance at the best of times so when the cold weather comes and the ball does not carry as well I switch to something quite similar to a rock just to get more distance. Sometimes I wish Titleist made a 2 piece ball for just such an occasion.

Titleist does make Pinnacle balls @ $.80 a piece so I wouldn't mind watching them skid across a lake.

I continue to play ProV1 just like I do in the warmer months. It is all relative and I prefer to stick with the same golf ball year round in all conditions. I make adjustments in club selection based on temperature and other conditions. ProV1 for me all the time.
