  1. For the average weekend golfer playing a golf course that has players on every hole, it is almost impossible to follow the lost ball rule and keep pace of play. I would to hear what other golfer have to say about this rule after all no one likes to play a 5 hr round of golf. Should there be a rule so the pace of play is not jeopardized?

I don't see the change of 5 minutes to 2 minutes changing the pace of play. The people that spend 10 minutes looking are still going to spend 10 minutes. The other 2 hindrances are moving up in a straight line instead of ready golf, and my favorite - 2 guys in a cart and the second guy sitting in the cart until being driven over to his ball after the first guy hits. I can walk a course faster than that.

Don, that rule change, was to three minutes, not two......what speeds up golf is playing ready golf....let me play devils advocate......and then there are those who like to race around the course and complain about those who play in three and a half hours.......and for a foursome that is more than adequate pace of play....if you have four golfers who are shooting over a hundred that will take over four hours..more like five plus..unfortunately......and add a few brewskies to it....it happens way to often...that is why our groups play early in the mornings, before the afternoon specials begin...and even our slow groups get in in around four hours......and two minutes per hole if you are behind a group who is having issues, is 36 minutes if they have to look for only one ball on each hole.
  4. LOL agreed - the only reason I take a cart is if we are consuming adult beverages that I don't feel like carrying in my bag.
