I have played with guys who complete 18 holes in three hours. Usually about 3:45 hours is our normal pace. But what about 4 guys in 4 carts who try to play very fast? We were pushed on the 7th hole by these guys. When our last player was picking up his ball from the hole they were hitting the green. We waved down the Marshall and he he said we were ahead of the pace of play. The guys behind us had a reputation of playing very fast. He told them to back off. It was irritating to keep watching our back. What to you think guys?

I normally like playing fast my self, usually we can fit 18 in about 3.5 hours, but that is very disrespectful of them, they should have had the courtesy of the group in front to clear the green and the area they are aiming to.
Also we are pretty good about letting single and doubles play thru, so we are not holding their pace.

I hate having someone pushing me on the course. Best thing to do is to let them play thru. Extra points if you can do the same thing to them. Lol

One thing I always do, if I'm in a cart is park the cart (if possible) toward the back of the green. That way when I'm walking off the green I'm going to the back of the green. After all, how many people hit it past the hole?

I would be lenient on the first time they hit the green and I'm on the green. If they did it again while i'm on it, I'll go over and knock the ball in a sand trap or off the green and report it to the Marshall.

I've heard of some guys who will hit the ball back at them.

You did the correct thing in reporting them to the Marshall.

I’m in Dallas too! Let me know if you’d like to play sometime.

Ive played very very fast rounds and very slow.

The fastest ive ever played was with a +4 and 2 others and myself. We played 18 in 1he 45min. It didn't seem fast, we took our practice swings but didbt fool around

The slowest ive ever played was with local preacher and it was 7hr. Its not that he or the others were bad.he was a 12 but he had a practice routine of 2 sets 6 practice strokes per shot. This round felt like forever

What's the point in playing fast. Just pull any club to advance the ball then not reading puts to just get to the next tee and do it again. And post some high number that you know could have been better I will never understand that.

Now not fiddling around and being ready to hit when it's your turn. That can make a round play under 4 hours and you put up a valid score.
That's how I like to play.

Golf is mental...better to just wait 5 mins and let them play through for your scores sake.

If the hole in front of you is open, let 'em thru, otherwise tell them to cool their jets. When I lived in NY, we had an eightsome that would go out at first light every Sat. and Sun. and were done in 2 1/2 hours. When we made the turn we would see them in the parking lot packing up their gear. I've never seen anything like it since.

Was it a bounce game or a medal??
I’ve seen me round in under 3 hours bounce game and in medal competition for a 4 ball.
It all depends if your looking for a lot of balls, telling stories on the tees/ greens.

Most opens I’ve played in you are normally 3 hours and 30 mins a round for a 3 ball.

My Longest round was last year on the Kings course gleneagles, 5 hours behind a lot of foreigners who couldn’t hit the ball lol.

I was 2 hours for a 2 ball last week at Tulliallan golf course.
We were never in any bother and could have played quicker if we wanted too.

Good idea to pull over and let them play through and enjoy your game.
  16. The fastest I’ve played a round is 3hours walking the slowest has been 9 hours and it was do to a foursome in front not letting me play through and would take ten to 12 practice swings then duff it 5 to 6 yards longest day ever and the worst part was they would let others on carts through but not us walkers

The hardest part of this game is between your ears. When something like that happens like you say you constantly looking back instead of focusing on your game. Ruin a day in a snap.

First they should wait until everyone is in a safe place before hitting toward any green or fairway for that fact.

If they do it more than once, I'll just wave them thru and that way it doesn't have an effect on my round. I don't even care if they have no place to go after they go around us that's their issue to contend with.

I used to confront such people now I just smile and wavy them by or bye....

I played 18 with a friend in 2hr 20min it was awesome! Nobody around so I went and played 18 with my brother the same day!
  20. I would welcome this much more than it's opposite. Let these guys play through, then you're done with them and you can finish your round as you see fit.
The bigger problem is the much more frequent groups of slow players. It ruins the round. Takes me out of any flow and rhythm I had, and turns what should be an enjoyable round of golf into an endurance challenge. If a course opened up locally that guaranteed 18 holes in about 4 hours I'd play there most of the time.
Even if I'm not playing very well on a particular day, I'll play fast. No need to make more people suffer other than myself by playing slow and trying to find my swing at their time.
Courses need to be marshaled better and they need to be able to enforce removing a slow group. I've spent way too many rounds behind groups that couldn't hit one ball out of an entire bucket at the range well, but take their game straight to the course for their "day out with the guys".

Me and my normal fivesome (all walking) usually play a round in about 3.5 hours and occasionally this same group gets behind us and rushes us. We always just let them play through but i've never understood how anyone could enjoy golf just getting up there and whacking the ball? Just my opinion though.
