Before it gets cold tomorrow (-25/-55) and being -1/-19 right now, spring is still the scheduled opening day of our local golf courses that is April 1, shadow or no shadow. One year we opened 3/17, but usually the courses aren't completely thawed until around 4/15.

This is my personal favorite ground rat picture, and why is everyone's spring in the U.S. based on him seeing his shadow in Pennsylvania? I live in South Carolina and we only have about three to four weeks of winter. Curious minds want to know....cheers

My grandmother used to swear by that creature. I'm not sure who to believe anymore. A groundhog in Alberta or Ontario Canada, I forget which, mysteriously died before Feb. 2nd last year, I believe. It is thought that the Phil Crime Syndicate was somehow involved. I think the fix is on: Phil talks to the bookies in Vegas, he throws his prediction, and he and his cronies make a fortune. In the meantime, he whacks any other groundhog that he feels is trying to muscle in on his "business affairs". But hey, you didn't hear it from me.

I think he will see his shadow, but here in Kansas the weather does what it wants so it probably won't matter for us. LOL.. 46 degrees today, 25 tomorrow, 40's friday/saturday.. 63 sunday, 30 monday....

It snowed last friday about 2" between 9am-10am and the forecast was suppose to be 44 degrees and sunny, by end of the day it reached 47 degrees and sunshine and melted all the snow from the morning...

Snow on the ground now and 15* here. However, looking at our forecast for February gives me hope he will not.

Six more days of winter is too much!! C'mon spring!! Ready to put the fert down and get these greens aerated!! All the tree work is getting old.
