    I've been waiting for this letter for a VERY long time. IMO one of the best semi-private course in my area and a course I could NEVER get bored of playing. Always in great shape and just a lot of fun to play. Very excited about this.. I now have a course I can officially call home.

    Best believe I'll throw a TT event there someday.

    What is Semi Private?? - It's not a description we have in the UK.

    In fact, it sounds a bit of an oxymoron - We go to Spain/Portugal playing golf on "Semi All Inclusive" basis (All-Inclusive after 5pm) which also similarly sounds suspiciously like an oxymoron.

    Semi Private clubs allow the public to play the course at rates higher than membership golfers.

    Private is where members only or their invitees can use it. Augusta National, Marion, and Oakmont are private examples. Semi-private is where access is not entirely limited to the membership and they accept the public, usually with some restrictions on the number of times to play per season and members get first crack at tee times. My understanding is semi-private is similar to most UK clubs. We also have public courses that have no or limited memberships. Whistling Straits and Bandon Dunes are privately owned but open to the public. Bethpage and Torrey Pines are public course owned by the municipalities.

    Chris, (speedy), congrats! I hesitate to ask how long, as I remember when I was living in Dover a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away, the wait list was near 20 years. I hope it hasn't been that long for you. However you are now a member of the best track in the entire seacoast area of 3 states. I mean no insult to many others and I was a member at Wentworth by the Sea back then, as "junior" members were anyone under the age of 32 back then. I used to go play Portsmouth at least once a year, but that's been a while too since the buddy I went with passed at an early age. He wasn't really much of a golfer, probably a 30 handicap, but lightening struck and he played the best round ever in his life at Portsmouth. Great tract, good folks. Enjoy and congrats again. It's one that's worth the wait.

    Waited a long time to get someone to sponsor me and put me on the waiting list. Finally got on the waiting list in 2014 so 4 years. Got very lucky.

    Must be a great feeling after a long wait. It has a great name too - I’m from the ‘original Portsmouth’ i.e. the one in England.
