My grandfather who was a marshall at Firestone took me out for the first time when I was 10, and got me my first set of clubs the following year. I played casually here and there through college and high school but I am 30 now and really got into the game the past couple years.
  3. I was about 10 when I started and I’m 39 now. I love the game. Best game in the world. My daughter started going to the range last year she’s 7 and my 2 year old has a plastic set of clubs that she trucks around the house. There’s no other game like it, most of my family plays golf. It’s something that we can all do together.
  4. I started playing at age 12, and was a caddie at the Milwaukee CC at 13. I'm 70 (and 3/4) now and still love to play, although more so on some days than others. Fairways and greens.

Age 59, 69 now. One of life's regrets - I didn't take up golf younger with an uncle that was a WWII fighter pilot and hard core golfer. I could have learned so much more than just the love of golf.

I started really trying and keeping score at 23.
Before that, score was kept by counting the empty beer cans!

Played my first round when I was 13 or so when we went to our family cabin in New Mexico. Played at a local course with a rented set. Hit it to about 3 feet on one par 3 and then took me a decade to get that close again lol. Played off and on through high school and college and finally started playing a lot more about 3-4 years ago. Played over 100 rounds last year at age 32.

Started at 11 when friends grandfather opened a 9 hole course and "we had nothing to do" one summer day. Addicted ever since and still going strong just turning 60. Played some college golf, qualified for and played in a State tourney here and there over the years, but never, never a hole in one in 49 years.

First played on Monday caddy days at age 13 in 1966. No instruction or junior golf back then and shot about a gazillion. Played on and off for the next 18 years, then had a good run going from '85 to '98. Then got super busy at work and played on and off again until retirement in 2010. Now I averaged 3 rounds a week for the past 9 years.

I grew up on a farm and we did have the luxury or opportunity to play golf back in those days. My father referred to golf as cow pasture pool. After a short visit to the University of Tennessee and joining the Air Force, which most of us did back in 1965 and getting discharged in 1971, I went to work and became a manager and did not have the time to play golf, between work and my young family. During my second marriage, I relocated to Charleston in 1984 at the age of 38 and found that golf was a good release, but that it and softball just did not go well together. I eventually stopped playing softball at the age of 42 and devoted more time to golf playing a couple of days on the weekends. Having retired at the age of 65 in 2011, my sole purpose was to spend more time on the courses in Charleston. I play in a men's senior league three days a week and in four or five amateur tournaments a year. Have played some the greatest courses in the US, Canada, and Ireland. Golf has come a long way for me since 1984. Three holes in one and my all time low of 69 in 2014. Believe me that was a once in a lifetime thing. Current handicap 13.4. Started late in life and loving every minute of it.

I was 33 years before I began playing golf. I used to caddy for my Uncle and we would walk 36 holes, he really loved the game. Last time I walked 36 holes my feet were killing me! So don't do that anymore. Now I am 68 and love it so much. So glad my Uncle exposed me to the game.
  13. I started playing in 2nd grade and I’m in 9th now and I’m at a point where I kind of hate golf because I’m on the golf team and my coach makes us play every other day and it’s kinda like watching a movie over and over, nothing changes and it soon gets boring. I Feel like I’m gonna play it a lot more in life and enjoy but right now I dread it.

Remember, you are not feeling that feeling alone. Other team members can feel that way from time to time as well.
Keep your focus on your goals, knowing that with practice comes skill, and with skill comes success.
You have shown the ability and interest, otherwise you would not be on the team!

Enjoy every day with your friends, and know that golf does much more for you than to challenge you and your patience. It opens doors and helps build a strong belief in yourself!
  15. Started playing at 21 with a collection of very old clubs
62 now and still trying to crack the secrets of good golf

Age 10, now 57. Played everyday on a scruffy 9 hole city course - usually 27 holes because of two kind starters who let me keep going! Played in HS, won a very, very small college golf scholarship and now coach the HS golf team where I teach. All three of my sons play and two played college golf.

Best part... all four of us play all Titleist clubs and balls (with the exception of one Odyssey 2Ball putter)

I was 5 and fell in love with the game almost immedaitely. I competed at a very high level through the age of 17 where I quick bagan to resent the game and started to find reason why not to play. I reached a point where I didn't play a round for nearly 5 years. My future wife finally convinved me to give it a shot again and look for the "fun" aspect of the game.
She changed everything for me and I couldn't be happier to be playing again. It's great to find the love I once had for this great game!

I was around my late 30’s when I stopped going to football to support my local team and took up this frustrating annoying bloody fantastic game, I’m 49 now and wish I had taken it up sooner.
