    When do you replace clubs?

Are you a tinkerer always trying new things or ideas out throughout the season or do you wear them out and have had the same trusty 3 wood for the last 10-15 years?

I'm a hardcore tinkerer with some random "wear them out" moments.

I've recycled everything in my bag at least once (some more) since the beginning of 2018. I've only held on to two clubs for any substantial period of time, a Pro Platinum Scotty Cameron I replaced last season (16+ years) and a Cobra 3 wood (purchased when it was part of Titleist) I got in the early 2000s that I could put on a rope at will until early 2018.

Has anyone gone through multiple woods, irons, wedges, putters or sets already this season? If so how many?

For me in 2019 alone I'm on my 3rd driver

Does anyone have the crown for longest running club in their bag still in use?

  2. I wear mine out. Hard.

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my bag (so far, new TS2 driver, TS3 3-wood, a few 818H's, a few new wedges), but as recently as February the newest clubs in my bag were 13 year old 775CB irons.

The oldest club still in my bag is my 56* Vokey wedge. This is its 14th golf season. It's probably -- or definitely -- time to replace it, but I can't bring myself to do it just yet.

I bet the groove wear on your 775 CB's is gorgeous! For not wearing a ton of clubs out, I love the sight of some good healthy groove wear on a set of irons.

I change clubs when I find new Titleist products that out perform my current clubs. I then pass my old equipment on to friends at a reasonable price. I take could care of my equipment. I only change drivers if I can get a minimum of ten more yards or it is completely worn out and I always get professionally fitted by a Titleist product specialist.

I'm with Chuck on this one. I do have a 915 F2 7W as there is no longer a LH option and I can still hammer this one. Won't go to a hybrid just to get something new.
  6. I have a 913 fairway in the bag.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I keep my clubs for a long time. I like being dialed in with my yardages. So I don't replace a club unless I experience what I call the "WOW factor" . If I hit a new version of my Titleist clubs and go "WOW" then I will replace something. I just did this by adding a TS3 driver replacing my 913D3 driver.

its a case by case scenario for me, but i definitely get a good usage out of each club. Changing is tough for me, I like to get a few seasons out of each club. My scotty cameron though, I've had for 8 or 9 seasons!

I'm guilty of constantly trying various brands and club selection setups. Being 6'7" tall, I've also done things like lengthened my clubs and backweighted them in the process, to keep the swingweight within the range of D1. Sometimes it works out well and I keep those clubs for a while, but something interesting always comes along to make me try something new.
  13. Hi Denis,
You might find that matching your clubs by Swingweight will not work very well. Especially as you are adjusting Swingweight by adding backweight. Adding a backweight does not actually alter the Swingweight, as the heft of the club is still the same, it just fools the Swingweight scale. You may have a look at www.rational-golf.com to see how you can match your clubs so that you will have the same swing for all your clubs.

I try to stick with the same ones. I update as I am looking for something different but if it works for me I generally stick with them.

New wedges each year, I just upgraded to the TS3 but I’m using the shaft I was fitted for the 917 D3. I also just replaced my hybrids to the 818 H1’s

Wedges I'll change every 12-18 months, other than that I'll try a lot of things at demo days and if it outperforms what's currently in the bag, I'll get it.

I wear them out. Case in point; I've got a Tm v-steel 16.5 fairway that's been in my bag since the late 90's/early 2000's.

If I feel the need (urge) to change it a simple drive to TPI and let the fitter and Trackman decide.. They don't try to push a new set on you, they told me my last set was as good as the latest versions.

I wear mine out. Only thing I change semi frequently are the wedges (about every 2-3 years depending on how much I actually have a chance to play).
  21. 735 Chrome Irons! You guys do the math. I think it's time.

My wedges are the most I pay attention to. I don't wait until it's completely worn out before I replace it with a new set. The SM6's used to be the set that comes out on important or special rounds, but they are now regularly in the bag and what's previously the regulars are now retired. I'm now looking into the SM7 for the fresh groves on special rounds, although the SM6 looks like it may last throughout this year. The SM7s are good but I'm anxious to see what's around the corner. I can't wait much longer :-)

About four years ago, I've decided to play forged Titleist irons for the first time and loved the CB 716. They are still in great shape and I've cared much for it- they're not going anywhere.

Last January, I picked up the AP3 which I was fitted for at least three times at three different places to which they all came up with the same specs. They're an amazing set of clubs and they've been a good pair for my skill level as a result in only 7 months.

My hybrid has been with me for a while now, 816 H1 and it's been difficult to part with as it keeps being reliable for how/what I need it for. The sole shows its age and the shaft has a small wear mark. So I may be looking at a new one, and I hope to find the same characteristics or something that has more to offer... I don't know ...call me greedy.

My 3 wood and driver are 917s. The 3 wood sometimes gets replaced by 913, but the driver received a new shaft last year and it's all I want to play.

I have a lot of nice putters (non Scotty) but since I've played the Futura Xr in 2015, nothing has been appealing or better.

I could have probably had just say I hang on to my clubs longer because when I start to work with something I like and works well with my swing I tend to keep them close to me. Titleist equipment tends to be it.
