There was a thread on here recently about other hobbies outside of golf. We're making that seasonal transition here now. Sad to see the season end. Here in the north we generally play from May into October. It's snowed the past two days around us and our course is closing a few days early.

My wife and I played out last 18 this past Sunday. The Setter and I got in a morning hunt, then hit the golf course. Sunny and 50*F. It was a really nice day to be out.

More bird hunting the next three weekends, including a trip to Iowa for Pheasants. Then our gun deer hunt over the week of Thanksgiving.

In December our indoor hitting stations will be up and hopefully the simulator, too. At least I have the ability to get in a few swings during the winter.

Our son in law just started training at Naval Air Station Lemoore. Current plans are for him to join a squadron at Miramar in May. If that happens we'll definitely be visiting during the winter months.

  6. Our golf season ended early in august this year because our golf course, Naval Academy Golf Course, is being renovated........it will be worth the wait as golf course architect Andrew Green has taken our Flynn designed course to the next level.

I fished a Bass Tournament last weekend and the weather turned 40 degrees & light snow this week. So I put the clubs in the basement until a nice day 45-50 degrees come around to work on chipping, putting. Might even hit the irons a bit if that day(s) come. Now it's time to relax by the fire & work overtime to pay for next year golf & fishing. Lol

You can always move south! Here in North Carolina it has to be pretty nasty out for me to stay in. I couldn't imagine not being able to get out to the course for a few months. Keep your head up, spring is only about 5 months away.

Like Todd, since being here in San Diego the last five years, it’s golf for 12 months. I have to head up to Bandon every winter just to justify keeping the winter/rain gear I have in the closet. Keep the fires away and we should enjoy our year-round golf.
  11. My season ended last week. Not due to weather, but a broken toe. Slipped on the stairs with my 18 month old and landed on my big toe. In a boot for the next few weeks, by the time I can hit a ball all the courses around me will be closed.

Time to work on putting and building a net for practice.

If Mother Nature is a little cooperative, I'll play through the winter with only a few periods where it's either too cold or the course is covered in snow. Since I moved to Maryland four years ago (from Connecticut), there hasn't been one single month where I didn't get to play at least a couple days. At my home course, if it's above freezing and there is no snow on the ground to speak of, they try to stay open all winter. I'll play in 35 degree temps if the sun is out and the wind is very light. When the wind kicks up a little, 40 degrees is about my cut off.

Some of the new Titleist winter gear will definitely be on my Christmas list this year.

At this point, with only two months left in 2019, reaching my personal record of 200 days/rounds of golf for the year will be difficult. I need 36 more to get there. But hey, I just got in 22 in October, so there is still hope if November and December are somewhat mild. My goal every year is at least 150, so that's already been checked off.

Nope, my Titleists are never put away for the winter. Or, as was once similarly uttered by Patrick Swayze, "Nobody puts my babies in a corner!"

Play to some degree all winter. played at least once a month for 7 years now here in Ky. Some really cold days but winter gear a cover for the cart and a good propane heater keep us going.

Hoping the winter stays mild here at the Jersey Shore. The last couple winters have been mild enough to play all winter long. Played this morning, it was 35 degrees. We had a 1 hour frost delay. That's long enough to wait!!

Haven't missed more than 2 weeks at a time during winter in NC that last 4 years. Snow isn't that bad, and it doesn't stay below freezing too long.

Probably all but finished this last week down in Myrtle Beach. This coming weekend they are talking the possibility of some snow, and the high temp in the upper 30's. Hopefully we get a little warmth after that for a few more opportunities. If not, lots, and lots, of Golf Channel, the occasional indoor golf at those indoor simulators, and deep, deep depression until the spring.
