First off the ball is amazing, the feel off the iron face was nice, Being in my 40”s I’m not a big swinger anymore but the AVX definitely responded off the driver face, The feel around the green had me thinking I was hitting a ProV and the roll with the putter was pure, looking forward to throwing theses darts this summer

I’ve been playing the original AVX since it came out. I love it and can’t wait to try out this new improved version. I hope it has a bit more control for the short game this time!

If you haven't tried them yet, I believe that they might be out for sale already. To me they are a game changer. I hope you can try them sooner than later.

Age 67. Current index 3.4. Rounds per year 200. Driver swing speed 85-90. Split time between Arizona and Wisconsin. Received AVX test pack 1/23/2020.

The new AVX is a really good, all around high-performance ball. Could easily become my new gamer. I've played 72 holes so far with the new ball (and the same ball), scores 73, 73, 75, 74, on 3 different courses. The ball is showing very few signs of wear, just a bit of shine fading. Drives - Distance off the driver is outstanding. I find it easy to vary launch angle and work the ball both ways. Ball rolls out nicely after landing. Ball feels good, soft but not mushy.

Long shots - Fairway metals and hybrids are solid. Again, easy to go high, low, medium and work the ball both ways.

Approach shots - Shots into the green behave well - just the right amount of spin. Easy to hit the ball high and soft, or hit lower, spinny trap draw type shots. Distance control and consistency on point.

Chips and pitches - ball feels soft but controls well. Easy to hit runners, spinners or soft landing flops

Putting - AVX feels softer coming off the putter than Pro V1X or Bridgestone Tour B X. Also, contact sound is muted in comparison to the X balls, very little click noise. Performance on putts is as you would expect from a high quality ball - consistent, true roll.

Wind control - Unfortunately for this test, we haven't had much wind lately. AVX has controlled well in wind under 10 mph, but that's the extent of my experience so far.

Summary - I never really considered the AVX before, just stayed with the Pro V line. However, this new AVX is a very worthy contender. Performance and feel so far have been great - I've found nothing lacking.

Very comprehensive review John, hopefully there will be a few players interested in trying out the AVX based on the points you made.

Did any of you try the Experimental Titleist? I loved that ball and I am wondering how it compares to the new AVX?

I did try the experimental ball from Titleist and really liked it. But the golf shop also thought I should try AVX and WOW that is my new favorite ball. I played with the "old" AVX and currently play the new AVX and plan to continue to us that ball.
I would consider playing that experimental 01 ball, but I don't seem to see it anymore at my golf shop.

I had been on the testing team for many years but I stopped receiving the testballs about 3 years ago. I found an AVX in excellent condition and played it for a round. I found the ball to be excellent in cold weather and wind. Much lower trajectory that absolutely knives through the wind. Very good stopping power into the greens though. I switched from my ProV1x to this full time. In my opinion for slower swing speed golfers all the way up to high swing speed golfers, this is a ball that needs a serious look at. This ball really has me excited and that is the first time I could say that in a very long time.

Man I didn't get the AVX to test this year. :( But I played the AVX when it first came out but it didn't spin enough for me around the greens.
I'm glad to see Titleist work out the kinks & take the advice of regular every day golfers like us to get out product that delivers.

As a slicing, high-spin off the tee kind of guy who banks on my short-game to save my scores from hitting triple digits, the AVX is the perfect ball for me (and you, if you can relate to my struggles). Lower spin off the tee has increased my distance and increased control around the greens has me feeling confident over the ball in both places. Love my AVX!

This 2020 version feels fantastic off the club face. I noticed that immediately. I also got more distance & a better ball flight off the Tee Box.
I felt like I had better control with my irons, especially the long irons, with the AVX. I really like how the ball feels when you "flush" an iron with it!
Around the green is where I noticed the most improvement. The ball lands soft & spins well. It rolls well off the putter face & has good consistency on the putting surface.
The surprising part of this to me is the sound, or lack of, from the ball. I love that.

I’ve played the previous version of the AVX since it was first introduced. The original ball has a soft feel but I felt the ball flight was a bit too low. I play to a 7 hdcp and usually play a power fade. Off the irons and around the green this ball met all expectations.
The new AVX has a slightly higher but penetrating trajectory with better feel around the greens and off the putter. Iron play is still very solid off my irons. Im hooked on this ball until the third version comes around. Give them a try and play well.

Titleist AVX BEST OF THE BEST! SHOT 72 Today from the white markers. Not bad for a 73 year old man with a bad back. Great distance off the driver and great feel with the wedges and putter. Can not wait to try the 2020 version. Bob from pennsylvania

I've been playing the AVX since it was limited test-market release to CA, AZ, and FL. The lowered launch trajectory and lower spin is what I originally liked about the ball, and that has not changed with the new model.

What I feel has changes is with the short game! There is definitely more control around the greens and on short approaches which allows me to play more variety of shots in and around the green.

I played my first round with the new model at Baylands Golf Links, in Palo Alto, CA. Since there aren't many trees on that track after the renovation, the overall trajectory wasn't a factor in shot making; however, it was consistently hitting the windows I was envisioning off the tee and on approach shots. The ball was predictable in its reaction, and the overall control was great!

Putting feel is excellent with the AVX, from which I have no complaints. Overall this is a noticeable upgrade in performance and I'll keep enjoying the profile of this tour-level ball.

I'm 77 years old (9.4 index) and have lost quite a bit of distance and was looking for a ball to fly off the driver, but still have control on my irons. I tried 2 sleeves of the AVX last year and found it caused too many explosions off of well hit middle irons. 5 and 6 irons flying 20 or more yards farther than normal. Not good for me. I'll give the new ball a try and see what happens.

I played the original AVX two years ago and played some of the best golf I have played in recent years. Way better ball than the Chrome SoftmI had experimented with. I eventually went back to the ProV1X and then the ProV1 last season because I needed the additional control around the green to hit low spinners, low checkers, two hoppers spin then trickle etc. The AVX would just roll out too much for my liking. I am anxious to try this new ball, if it even gets halfway to the green side control currently offered by the ProV1s, I may game it again...

As an aside, played a dozen of the EXP balls, great ball, just not enough green side spin for my needs... Also, the cover would scuff as if it hit a cart path from normal play, odd...

(of course I could just hit more greens :-) thinking of upgrading to new T100s irons from my AP3s, played the original AP2s for four years...)

Have not tried new AVX yet. I liked feel of original but I found the trajectory of Pro V1 more to my liking. Will the trajectory be different from original?

Titleist came by my club and offered samples of the new AVX and I love it. The improvements around the green made all the difference in the world. The original ball was simply too lively to chip with because the ball would explode off the face of my wedge and fly over the green or 10 feet past the flag.

Now I am waiting until the proshop gets their production balls in so I can trade in my 4 1/2 dozens of ProV1's for the new AVX.

I've been playing ProV since the beginning and have never considered playing another ball. I got everything I wanted from a ball with the ProV. A few years ago, my club received 12 dozen AVX and I bought a sleeve because my curiosity was peaked after hearing a few comments from the members. I thought it was a superior long game ball compared to the ProV. The reduced spin included reduced side spin, so the dispersion pattern was a lot tighter. However the short shots around the greens were not responsive enough for me. The ball kept getting away from the hole and I soon lost interest.
I've since moved to another club that has very fast, undulating receptive greens. The problem this presented for me and my ProV ball was now I had way too much spin on my approach shots to hold the area of the green that I landed in. I found myself bunting scoring shots into the greens in an effort to stay near the hole. Any shot to a back pin from less than 150 would end up in the middle of the green after spinning back or would be over the green trying to flight more club to those pins. For 6 months I was obsessed with spending my range time working on half shots and adjusting for reduced spin into the greens. Then about a month ago, I remembered the AVX. My only complaint with that ball was reduced spin! Had I stumbled across the solution? Possibly, I would need to get some reps on the track to know for sure. First round out with the AVX proved my theory was right! I had forgotten just how great the ball feels on all shots, but the irons is where I really feel it the most. If you have over spin issues at your home course, the AVX may be the solution for you. It's the ball I will use on my home track from here on out. There are courses around here that I will still play the ProV, possibly...

I currently play Prov1, in comparison is there enough of a difference to make the switch to AVX?

I am very fortunate to have been selected in the test group. I’ve played the earlier very often the AVX and without a doubt the AVX is superior in every aspect of my game. At eighty years of age my average drive was 245 yards which is twenty additional yards.
The Iron shots were crisp and truly soft, much softer and pleasing to the hands and arms. My putts are very soft and pleasing as well.
The new AVX is a radical innovation to my game. Just getting off the tee twenty yards further helps me reach greens with my hybrids and sometimes my irons, and this ball checks with my approach shot as well as my chip shot, which put me in place to score better.
I purchased two dozen of the new AVX immediately after playing three rounds with the sample balls. In fact, after thumping one of my friends he asked if I had an extra AVX.
He called me the next days to announced that he purchased the new AVX yellow balls. Thus lower compression ball is ideal for my game. I am playing three days a week now instead of two.

I have been an avid ProV and ProV1x fan since they came onto the market, and haven’t found a better ball yet.

I did like the softer feeling golf balls of other brands but never got the performance that the ProVs gave me. However, now that I’ve had a couple solid year round seasons with the AVX I can say I’m getting the soft feeling I wanted, along with the performance I had come to expect from a ProV ball and I’m experiencing a similar or better distance with AVX.

I generally have a higher ball flight than most, but I have never been a long hitter, which I think is a carry over from the old balata balls and the smaller club heads of yore. My higher ball flight generally doesn’t present a problem with these stopping on the greens, even with longer approach shots using my hybrid or long irons. (BTW, last season I had a double eagle when I hit it 235 into the cup, which was about 35 yards more than I anticipated, and the year before got one from near the same distance, both with the AVX.)

The AVX seem to cut through the wind better than the ProVs - whether that’s from the different dimple pattern or the spin characteristics, or a combination I couldn’t say, I’ll leave that to the techies to explain.

I hit a high percentage of drives in the fairways, which is key, however the drives seem to roll out significantly more with the AVX than the other Pro Vs do.

I like the way they perform around the green - total confidence and control with these - I trust these will check up and roll consistently, maybe not quite as much check as the ProVs, but perfect for my game. Let’s be real I’m not spinning my balls back on the greens much these days, but they are stopping and holding perfectly. and yeah, every now and then I can get them to spin back.

And with the putter, that soft feeling and sound feel great to me and I get all the feedback I need.

I have a solid back stock of ProVs, but I’m beginning to stockpile the AVXs now.

And as I age that high vis yellow makes it much easier for me to spot. I’m sold on these.

I have been playing over 30 years (senior discounts now apply), and consistently around scratch for the last 10 years, and now playing at +3, and have been as low as +4.1. I’ve been losing considerable distance, and my body takes a lot more time to warm up before a game, but I know my game better than ever. And one thing for certain, I need to look down at the ball and feel absolutely confident that it’s perfect and ProVs have always done it for me. The right clubs (Titleist 620MB irons, U500 driving irons, TS2 Driver, Scotty Putter(s)) with the right shafts for my swing, and the best ball for my game make this already difficult game much more enjoyable and it sure makes it much more fun especially when I’m scoring well.

If your swing speeds are getting you 300+ yards out, then maybe this isn’t the ball for you, but if you’re swinging under or around 100 mph, hitting fairways and greens and scoring your age (60s), then you might want to check the AVX out.

God, I love this stupid game.

Was apparently not selected to test the new AVX, but it's been my ball of choice since it came out. Here's hoping the new still keeps the characteristics that made the original such a great fit!!
