    Very fascinating article in golf magazine talked about how to keep your yard green and lush from a superintendent of golf course the other day. He talked about cold-weather grass like rye and fescue as well as putting Bermuda grass on warm weather lines, as well as how to protect and maintain. I do a lot of chipping and pitching in my backyard have been really working on getting it green and thick.It has helped my short game and upped the value of our lot, do any of you fellow team Titleist members look at this type of thing in your yard and what do you do or I have any best practices/thoughts

    I’m constantly working on improving my yard. For me the biggest thing I do is just keep nuisance weeds pulled and put down weed and feed in the spring and fall. During the dry months I make sure to put down at least an inch of water down. The other thing I’ve found important is cutting it to the proper length. Short at the beginning of the year to let the yard breathe and longer during the summer to shade and protect the roots. I try not to put a lot of money into the yard though because I save all of that for golf obviously.

    Saw this article and really enjoyed it. We just had Zoysia installed and love how much better the yard looks. Just can't grow normal fescue here in the south.

    I live in Winston-Salem, and we are a bit cooler in Charlotte, so fescue does fairly well. I have some big trees in my front yard, so I have a lot of shade, and poor air circulation. My front yard really declines in the summer, but looks great in the spring and fall. I think I'm going to mix some heat resistant bluegrass this fall. I'd love to have zoysia, but it's not cheap, and, even though, it's shade tolerant, my yard might be a bit too shady.

    Our whole neighborhood is tall fescue except for a few houses that went warm season turf and it does really well here in Charlotte. Get away from big box products and seed and it's super easy.

    I read the article and found it interesting. I get the magazine online and get something from them daily. I have Bradford pear, southern magnolia, palmetto and live oak trees in my yard. A lot of coverage makes it difficult to grow hardy grass. Lost 16 lob lolly pines and two hickory nut trees when hurricane Hugo hit in 1989. Those in my neighborhood who do not have trees have beautiful yards. I love my trees and less grass to move. My yard is a third of a an acre and our big live oak takes up almost half the back yard with shade, but it is beautiful. Our bradford and magnolia in the front yard are very mature.

    I live in a development so I no longer mess with yard work. I have Floratam grass which in a grade of St. Augustine. The HOA takes care of everything including trimming bushes, shrubs and trees. All I have to take care of is mulch. Ahhh, retirement.

    Guess I am fortunate, no HOA. Live in the older part of Mt Pleasant. It has it's advantages as well as disadvantages. I like working in my own yard to get a little exercise. That GEICO commercial cracks me up regarding the head of the HOA.

    Like most lawns in the neighborhood, I have bermuda but I wish that tall fescue could stand the brutal southern heat. Such a nice lush look to fescue and zoysia lawns.

    Golf magazine has some great articles from superintendents regarding lawn care including punching your yards, which I reading about this morning. They need to breathe.
