We have 8 guys from Minnesota looking for a warm place to play in early April.  We normally drive down to Des Moines, but the weather isn't reliable.  Does anyone know where we could find good rates and cheap travel for a long weekend of golf?

    Thanks,

    Scott

Louisville Ky, 16-18 Apr the weather will be good. Other than that I have no idea where the weather will be reliable in Apr.

    John,

Do you have a magic eight ball or something?  LOL, I'm just kidding.  I am just curious how you know the 16-18 of April is going to be good in KY.  I am going to hold you to that date and schedule an outing.  I live in Indiana but a trip to the Casino with some golf in Louisville sounds pretty good in April.

18th is the 10th Elmore Just Memorial at Persimmon Ridge. Its always good weather for this event.

A few years ago I flew down to Dallas/Ft. Worth and found a great deal at a Marriott (I think it was called Champions Circle) - for $99 a night I got room, 2 rounds of golf, and free breakfast (if you stay 2 to a room you each get a round a day).  I thought the hotel was very nice...but it's in the middle of no where (well, I guess it was right near a big race track).  The course was decent - it was no Giant's Ridge (or the Classic), but I enjoyed it...and there are some really nice courses in that area that you could play, too.

Keep us posted on your plans!

Thanks for all the ideas.  Last year we played Tournament Club of Iowa and it was alot like Giant's Ridge, terrain wise and beautiful.  Who would of thought it was very hilly in the middle of Iowa.  Great course.  If any TT members make it to Iowa that is one course I would recommend.

Keep the ideas coming seeing as we still have 2 feet of snow and single digit temps.

vegas, baby.  great golf.  easy to find smokin' deals on the web for flights, beds, cars and discounted golf.  99% reliable weather... and they never run outta ice.  the sticking point might be selling the idea to some (all) of the wives?  otherwise, stay thirsty my friend.

Update to this.  The weather got the best of us and we didn't make the trip to Iowa.  Next year we will look more into Austin or Vegas.  Last weekend, when we were suppose to go, the weather seemed like it was bad all over.

Thanks again for all the ideas of where to go.

As a Nebraska resident, April golf is sketchy at best in Iowa/Nebraska areas.

I was in Vegas last week.  Played Bear's Best and Rio Secco - weather was awesome.
