My 10 year old son is a Titleist freak.  But he's had to play the lighter women's clubs which had him in another brand.  I am finally able to get him into a full weight clubhead with a lightweight graphite shaft so here is what I have in store for him:

    1.  Just tonight I reshafted my AP2s wtih graphite.  I tried the AP2s and went back to my cavity back.  I was planning to try them again but he has been coveting them so much I relented and reshafted one for him to take the the driving range last week.  He hit it more solid than I do so I ordered shafts and they arrived today.  Not much special in graphite A flex shafts so I ordered some white with gold trim and they look sweet.

    2.  I was going to reshaft my 909D3 driver for him but I'm out of .335 ferrules so that will have to wait until this weekend.  He pretty much knew he was getting my 909 when I got the 910.  Got a UST proforce ATR A flex shaft for it.

    3.  I have a 909F3 15 deg and 13 deg.  Lately I've been hitting the 15 deg but I think I'll go back to the 13 deg and reshaft the 3 wood for him too.  Same shaft.

    4.  This is the centerpiece of his Christmas.  I ordered custom wedges from Vokey.  The special oil can finish TVDs in 54 and 58 with his name stamped on them and the custom colored Vokey saw. Got him a Vokey hat and towel to go with it.  This part will be a total surprise.  He currently has a Vokey spin milled 54 and 58 that I drilled out to match the swingweight with his women's set.  He's been complaining (rightfully so) that he's worn out the grooves.  But he thinks I'm going to make him use them a while longer.

    5.  A new 50 deg oil can spin milled gap wedge to go with them.  It will be here this weekend.  I'll put the white shaft in it to match.

Most of these things are on his Christmas list so he won't really be surprised.  But I think he'll be very excited about the tournament season that starts here in January.  As for Christmas, I think I'm more excited about that than he is.

You sound like a great Dad, will you adopt me?  My sons are 3 1/2 and 5 months, so I can't wait to get them to the course.  Enjoy your Christmas with family, sounds like you will have a huge smile watching your son open his gifts.

Not sure if this makes me a good dad or not.  Rereading it sure sounds like "you're spoiling that kid" but he's due for new clubs for the season anyway and I am reusing a lot of my used clubs (that he will love) and covering Christmas at the same time so maybe it makes me sound like a cheap skate.  Just for the record, he's getting a new BMX bike too so Christmas won't be just golf.  And I'm divorced so he'll get a full Christmas at his Mom's too.  I guess he is making out pretty good.

I got the AP2s  done last night.  The white shafts look great and I redid the paintfill in various colors which is what he keeps saying he thinks will be cool. Nice bright colors.  Swingweight came in about B2 .   His old clubs are A0.  I think it will work out great.

Yes, I think I'm more excited than he will be. I'll get pictures.--Jerry

Ha, ha...I didn't mean you sounded like a great dad because you might be trying to shower your kid with presents.  However, you seem to take a real interest in his passion...or he takes an interest in your passion :)   I'm sure he will be very excited when he receives those gifts for Christmas.   Have a great holiday season.

He's got the passion.  I took a break from golf for triathlon, mountaineering, and a few other hobbies during the 90's.  Got married, had kids and then his interest in golf (from an early age) got me back into it.  I've lowered my handicap by 10 strokes teaching him.  Now I have to drag him home from the range when it gets dark.  I never ask him to practice, he asks me.  Tonight I promised him we could go to the range if the rain (in the forcast) is not too heavy.  His reply, "OK, we'll only have to come home if it is pouring?"

    Jerry,

I think it's great that you are giving your old clubs to your son, it sounds like you are making them brand new again. Titleist clubs, new or used, are a great gift to receive.  Can't wait to see pictures of him with the presents.  The BMX bike works great for getting to the course.  I used to take my wedge and putter up to the local course on my BMX bike when I was a kid to practice around the practice green.

Merry Christmas to all @ TT,

This is exactly what Christmas is about when you have kids.  You are not spoiling him but you will be just as excited as him I'm sure. I remember when I was little and I always asked for clubs for Christmas.  After opening the gifts my dad and I would always hit the course on Christmas day afternoon whether it be for 2, 3 or 9 holes depending on the weather in Virginia.  We once played in the snow and had a blast.

You will create great memories as well as encourage his desire for golf.

    Have a Merry Christmas.

You're son's off to a great start, by using Titleist. Now, I'm not married or have any kids, but, if I do have kids, I wouldn't dare put anything but a Titleist in his/her, hands. I remember my "old" next door neighbors little niece and nephew. Every single day, I'd be out by the water, hitting balls. They always watched. So, one day, I took my old clubs (Titleist, of course), went to see my friend at the range (club fitter/maker), ordered some junior shafts and made them a set of clubs.

That's great that you are passing your passion for gold and Titleist down to your son. I know that I am very grateful that my Dad passed his love for the game on to me.

Awesome that you can share that with your kids. I picked up the game because of my Dad so we can have something to do together and its turned into a passion.

    Jerry,

How did your son like his presents?  My face would still hurt from smiling so much if I was opening that much Titleist stuff.
