Last week it got really cold here in southeast GA. I was at the driving range and it was about 30 degrees, At first I thought it was  a figment of my imagination, but i continued to make sparks while hitting the range balls with my driver. I was wondering if this was bad for the driver and if it has any lasting effect if bad. I will stop doing it if it is bad. Thanks for any info.

I don't know what the harm is, but I have seen this happen before in the colder weather. It has happen to me and I have yet to have it fully explained as to why. When it happen to me the Pro said he had seen it before and believed it was caused by static electricity. If anyone knows, get  on this one and fully explain this phenom.

I have had this happen in 40 degree weather. From what I can think of it might have been that there was some dust on the ball that made a spark when it hit the face of the driver.

Never heard of this before...but I can't be good for your driver at all. I don't hit woods when its below about 35 always afraid to crack the head.
