Golf Magazine had an interesting article this past issue regarding how you grip your club. According the article. you need to grip the club in a neutral position with your left hand, basically holding the club with the club shaft lining up on the lower portion of the fingers and just barely touching the start of the palm. then you complete the grip with right hand. It goes further in how ot adjust your grip to correct certain problems and how to consistently regrip the club the same way all the time.

I noticed as I practiced the gripping method as described, that I normally grip the club in about the same way, but this method enhances a way to grip the club in a consistent manner. Will let you all know how it comes out once we return to the warmer climes later this month. Right now, Iowa is not the place to go out and play rounds unless you are layered up for temps in the teens and below.

Be careful reading tips and tricks, while these articles are correct for some people , they are not for many.

The strength of the grip is a function of how you swing the club, or how you swing the club is a function of the strength of your grip.

For example, suppose you use a strong grip and hit the ball well, now you change to a neutral grip, you must also change how you swing the club to match the new grip, or you will be hitting slices.

Find a grip that is comfortable for you and allows your hands to work together, then find the swing that brings the club back to the ball as it was at address.

There is no one grip/swing that everyone should use.

This is where golf instruction in the information age has failed, its kinda hard for a golf instructor to work you into a swing that works for you, from a dvd. So on a dvd they teach one way of swinging the club, and this trend has extended to hands on instruction.

Jack Nicklaus in Golf My Way, does a great job in stressing how you do things depends on you.
