  1. I have a scotty, and it just seems ridiculous that I buy a $500 putter, and the cover is velcro. Why not magnetic? Does anyone else feel like that's crazy?

I wish they were magnetic as well. The velcro just wears out so fast.

I do not believe Camerons will switch to magnetic covers based on comments in the cameroncollector.com forum. I love Scotty putters, but the covers have lacked creativity over the past several years. They sell out on release day, but I’ll pass on most, except the Hulas and potato heads. SWAG covers are magnetic and refreshingly innovative, and creative. They caught the eye of Captain Steve Stricker at the last Ryder Cup and he gifted the US team headcover sets. The players loved them, and some still use them today.

I've had my putter cover on my Scotty Newport 2 Select for 8 years now & it still sticks and holds in place. I understand maybe having a magnetic one too. But I have been shocked how well my cover has endured the elements and constant use without giving way.

I like the velcro personally. But i understand some people dont. I have seen some people on instagram that will take you original cover with velcro and make it a magnetic setup. I forget what company it was though, if it comes to me ill post again!

I saw a social media video post about this same thing just the other day! I have several of the Club Cameron head covers and have never really put to much thought in the Velcro vs. magnet closure. Then when I saw that video it maybe me think more about. Plus the other day I picked up on of my Odyssey putters and the magnet closure was smooth, nice and quiet. LOL! Now reading your post... a magnet closure would be a nice addition to those insanely cool head covers that we all love so much!!!!

Exactly! I love my scotty, but I think having a magnetic cover would really enhance the brand overall. I just cant justify spending $80 on a custom shop cover, knowing its velcro and will wear down so fast

These is a subject that has been discussed on here in the past and this is entirely up to Scotty. The company that manufactures his headcovers, AM&E has a contract to manufacture headcovers for Titleist with only Velcro. Others feel the same as you but at present it is what it is. I have Scotty headcovers and have no issues with mine.

Not crazy necessarily. I've had putter covers with the magnet and if the magnet is not secured properly, they end up repositioning in odd spots. I find the magnetic covers made by PRG are well made. I have another that actually sews the magnet, so it does not move...I forget the manufacturer's name. If you're interested, I can repost the name later.
  11. I'd love that
  12. Im glad im not the only person who's thought about this

I too have "weak velcro" starting to happen and have been thinking about what to do. As a "tinkering MacGyver" I was thinking of going to hardware store and buying small disc magnets and make sure they are opposite poles.

I will cut a small slit between existing velcro and cover and stitch the magnet in place. Any GI, fixer upper character can fix this as a matter of "survival". No sense complaining, just fix it the best you can and move on.

Its just like my golf game, I got good equipment, I just need playing time, lessons, practice, and a good mental attitude. I just can't seem to put it altogether at the same time.........just like velcro wearing out..........

I have converted many throughout the years using tailors, embroidery shops, and even shoe repair shops. They can easily remove the velcro and add a magnetic closure. Cheap and easy.

I have two PRG headcovers and I like them better than the Scotty one that came with mine. I have the Ryder Cup 2020 Cheese and just got a No Laying Up one and the magnetic closure is perfect.

While I have a pretty large collection of Scotty Cameron headcovers, I tend to use them during the events they were made for; 4th of July, Masters, Open Championship, etc. With this limited use the Velcro holds up pretty well. I do use a putter cover with magnets are my day in and day out cover.
