Our little four legged friends play a big part of our lives, are a major part of our family, and do assist us in our golf practice. Our little 17 year old dachshund, Katie passed over the rainbow bridge this afternoon. She fell asleep in my lap as she was prepped for her final destination at the vet's office. A hard decision to let her go but afterwards we see that it was best. On many occasions she served as my ball retriever in our backward as I practiced my chipping. Thought she was the cat's meow. Also served to keep the squirrels out of our way when practicing. RIP my little practice buddy. Born on the ides of march, 2006. The beginning and the end.

Sorry to hear about your loss, my friend. Keep those great memories with you and I'm sure it will put a smile on your face. I'm sure there's a practice chipping green on the other side of the bridge for Katie to enjoy.

Chuck, sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure you and your family had many years of great times. I'm considering a four-legged friend after 30+ years without, but I'm not sure I would be able manage the inevitable breakup.

Thomas, Connye and I will celebrate our 46th Anniversary in November. During that time we have had four of those little dachshunds. Dylan (7 let him go due to back issues), Zachary (4 let him go due back issues), Scarlett (14.6 mos. let her go old age, had back surgery at 12) and now Katie (let her go at 17.5 mos., was blind and deaf at 16.5). Most of our marriage has been with these little angels. We raised all of them from puppies or should I say they raised and trained us. I had three other doxies in another marriage. They are very special to me. Lost two other to back problems. Think it might be time, as my friend from the other coast put it, "Keep those great memories with you and I'm sure it will put a smile on your face." I have had so much fun with all my little fur babies and clowns. Sure they all are playing together on the other side of the bridge and one day I will join them.

Sorry for your loss. I have had to let go of my fur babies several times. I am often reminded of this quote I saw in a vet's office.

"It came to me every time I lost a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough all of the components of my heart will be dog and I will become as generous and loving as they are".

Sorry to hear that Chuck. My family had two over the years as well, one that passed at 13 from adrenal cancer and another at 12 from kidney and hip issues. It tough, my best to you and your wife.

Sorry Chuck for your loss. I know how you fell. I have had a dog most of my life, but when the last one passed I don't want to go through that again. Good luck Chuck.

They returned her remains to our vet on Monday. Finally drove over the river and picked up her urn today and placed her on the bookshelf with her sister. Thanks to everyone, it has helped. At our age, we are thinking we will probably not get another dog, even from a shelter, with a little older dog. It seems to get harder to let them go as we get older. Appreciate the Team Titleist family. =)
  21. My condolences Chuck. One of the hardest things to do. I have had to experience that a few times and will have to again one day.

Sorry to hear that Chuck. Our family had an English Bulldog who lived to be 10. That's a good life for a bulldog. When we named him it came down to Seamus or Luigi on a coin flip. The Italian side of the family came out on top on that one.

I know what you're going through. I think of Luigi often..
