So I was fortunate/lucky enough to get an invite to Manchester Lane last week to get fitted for the new irons along with other stuff planned for the day. The agenda was pretty good and well done. So absolutely I took a day off from work to attend this.....
The first hour I was there I had to hang out by the short game area and hit some balls until it was my turn to get fitted. If you've never experience the short game area at Manchester Lane, HIGHLY recommend getting fitted there once to experience it. Not only are the fitters fantastic but the area is just so pure. I would still be there today if I could. While we were there, they had some Ball Fitter experts helping us out and came blown away how different the new ProV1x was around the green. A little less firmer then previous versions BUT the spins around the green, wow. Impressed. Right up there with the ProV1, IMO. And definitely held up better then my current ball, left dash ProV1x. So may be looking to change things up next year.. We'll see...
The fitting was as good as expected. Chris O'Rourke was my fitter and one of the best around IMO. Super knowledgeable, very easy to get along with and just a great guy to chat with. I currently have the T200 so warmed up with that t to get some numbers. I will say I am VERY thankful my swing was good that day so no issues there. Swing was solid through-out the whole fitting. After a warm up, Chris started handing me different shafts with the new T200. I'm going to be honest, I have no issues with my current setup so it would have to be BIG for me to change. Started off ok, not much of a difference in regards to numbers but noticed a few things different with the head; a little more forgiveness off the sweet spot, almost felt like the TSR driver where it just bounced off the face and goes and then the sound was different (Worth noting I'm heard of hearing but this was something I could actually hear and understand my shot). But wasn't sure if it was enough to make the switch.. THEN.. Chris handed me another set up. My current shaft is the Nippo 950GH (yes, i like it light). Handed me the club and I see graphite. Now I'm thinking "Oh man, here we go, old man shaft". First swing with it, WHOA. 2nd swing, WHOA WHOA. Took a double look at the shaft... 3rd, 4th, hit about 8 shots and just effortless. I look at the numbers with Chris and yeah, an improvement to my numbers. Spins and launch were solid AND gained 10 plus yards compared to my old set. wow... That shaft, "Aerotech Steelfiber i95". Combine that with the new head, HELLO! So yeah, I'll be putting in an order soon.. IMO, worth the switch after that and can't wait..
After the fitting, we all headed over to Ball Plant 3 for some lunch and a tour. This was my 3rd time doing it and I LOVE IT. May do it annually, it's that much fun and every time I've been, I'm learning something new. And yes, did a little shopping at the end. Have to. Then finished off the day with a 9 hole event at Country Club of New Bedford where Titleist all started..
A fantastic day overall, grateful for these opportunities. And it was great meeting new Team Titleist members and catching up with old friends. Ever get an opportunity like this, DO IT. Worth it.
Thanks again to the staff at Team Titleist.
