It’s no secret that lower back pain is a big problem in golf. The rotation, speed and repetition of the golf swing all put your lower back at risk. But that doesn’t mean that injury and pain are inevitable.

Our friends at TPI have identified the biggest contributing factors to back pain in golf and they've shared some simple steps you can take to minimize your risk of injury. Check out the post below for some simple exercises to get started.

And for a deeper dive, click the link below for the full article featuring TPI-certified personal trainer and coach, John Hodgkinson:

As one who suffers from time to time with lower and upper back pain, this is great information. My back issues are usually related to posture during the day at work and not enough stretching or conditioning afterwards. I have learned that 10 minutes of a simple stretch routine helps 10 folds. Some of these stretches are perfect for what I needed.

Rick, the Physical Therapist that I signed up with in late 2023 is TPI certified and he enrolled me in the program. I have scoliosis and development of my core and pain relief is the only treatment for this at my age, 77, according to my neurosurgeon. We could see awesome improvement after 60 days in my flexibility and decreased pain in my lower back. A great number of Physical Therapists are now getting their certifications in this program and working with golfers in our area with success. Continued exercises on a daily basis at home help also, as he as recommended and prescribed. Still attending PT on a once a week basis. Am walking taller, swinging slower and seem to be getting more out of golf.
