  1. Mine was this past August(2024) at Pine Needles holing out for an eagle 2 from 80 yards with my 64 degree wedge on the 12th hole. My first time ever holing out from the fairway on a full shot. Played from the Ross Tees 350 yard par 4. Made for an amazing golf trip and great memory. Pine Needles was my favorite course I have ever played. If you ever go down to the Pinehurst area, definitely play Pine Needles.

Might be today. Playing in our monthly interclub matches. My game is, in a funk and bogey is pretty good right now while I figure out it's issues. We play points and our captain said he needed us to manup today. Very cold for this area and a bit of wind. Over slept this morning so just tried to layup on most shots to eliminate hight numbers. Pushed drive into sand trap, 187 out. Now have to remember am 78 and just don't have the game most of you have on here. Laid up with a 6 iron to 87 yards. Great position, BUT pushed it to the right. Next shot over another sand trap. Caught it clean but came up short on the edge of the green, laying four. Gotta recover from around forty feet. Texas wedge, eight inch break to the left. Good contact. That Prov1 ball trickled drown the green, pretty as a southern bell homecoming queen, and finished that last roll into the cup. Was really happy with that bogey. Two points. Only two of our team mates were on the plus side today and I was one of them. Not like a hole in one, which I have had four of, or an eagle, but, today just as exciting. We needed those two points for the team and I finished play two.

Wish my new glasses would get here soon from the VA. I finished plus two. Hakuna matata.

For me it was a 3 wood about 220 yds out for eagle. The course was Ancil Hoffman GC in Sacramento. It's a classic parkland style golf course designed by William Francis Bell. Hole 16 is a par 4 and playing 422 yds from the Blue tees (from the tips it is 497 yds). The unique feature of the hole is there is a very large tree in the middle of the fairway which you need to avoid with your tee shot. The aggressive shot is a ball on the right side of the tree. I went with the more conservative approach and went on the left side. I hit my 2nd shot and knew I hit it well. The ball carried to the front portion of the green and then the ball disappeared. The green is slightly above the fairway, so my initial thought was I rolled the ball over the green. I was playing with a friend and as we approached the green we didn't see a ball. I made the walk behind the green and didn't find a ball there either. Unfortunately, behind the green is the back fence of the driving range. As I prepared to take my penalty, my friend casually walked by the hole and found my ball.

Mine would be the first round after getting fitted for my 716 AP1 irons.
I was playing a local course and on #6 I was 131 out uphill. I hit 9I and holed out for an eagle.

The course has small turtleback greens and when we didn't see the ball on the green, we thought maybe it rolled or bounced off the backside. One of my playing partners decided to check the hole and there it sat.

It was a great day; the eagle trumps my hole out birdie from 76 yards with a 60* Vokey SM8. ;)

I've had a few hole out eagles and hole out bunker shots in a 50+ year career ,and happy to have done that. For the most part, those are a combination of skill and good fortune. The shot that comes to mind for me was the 2nd shot, 12th hole ,415 yard par 4,Essex County Club (MA).Tee shot is blind.I hit a pop up to the left. Although in the fairway,I was blocked out by trees which started at the 150 marker and ran all the way down the left side to the green. I had 2 options; either punch out to the middle of the fairway , or hit a slinging hook, aiming for the right tree line. Certainly a "hit it and hope shot", if ever there was one. I was 165 out, and about 20 yds inside the tree line. I hit a solid 7 iron and watched as the ball, headed for the right trees. It started turning over late, but then really turned left. I ended up on the left edge of the green,12 feet from the pin, and birdied the hole. Never able to move a ball like that on command before or since.

I've been fortunate enough to have done this a few times down thru the years, but my latest eagle came 2 weeks ago, a 3 wood 2nd shot on a long par 4 (Long for me, that is). It just kept rolling toward the hole and finally dropped in. It was pretty cool to watch.

Mine was at Kiawah Island on the Ocean Course. Never played the course before but it had been a dream of mine to play there since the 91 Ryder Cup. Had a good round going and reached the 11 hole, 550 yard par 5. The wind wasn't really strong but helping. After a really good drive I had 220 ish to the flag. My caddie said the smart play was an easy lay up with say a 9 iron, given its a small and protected green with a lot of trouble for a wayward shot. Or, just go for it it you are feeling it. I said I wanted to go for it and pulled a 5 iron which for me would be about 185 normally. But I was feeling confident and I absolutely flushed the shot high and straight at the flag. Didn't see it land but when I walked up to the raised green, my ball was 3 feet from the pin and must have had a look in as it rolled by. Perfect shot, couldn't have hit it better. Nervous over it but I holed the putt, high fived my caddie, my pregnant wife who was walking with us and my playing partner....and then practically floated to the next tee on cloud 9. Great day that I'll never forget, would love to go back one day, my favourite course in the world.
  12. That is great!

Mine was a 3 wood about 275ish that rolled by the hole 2 inches to the left to 2 feet out for an easy eagle. Really wanted the Albatross.

Hole 8 at the Meadows in Dubuque, IA earlier this year. Second round of the day, had a great drive down the right side of the fairway that left about 85 yards in. Pin was tucked on the right side a few paces in guarded short by a bunker. Anything long is trouble coming back with the green sloping back to the bunker, anything short is in the beach and short sided. I would normally play my 54 from that distance, but decided the 30 mph wind up the pipe would help my 58 get there and the extra height would help drop the ball straight down. I had a very tight window to land the ball with the slope of the green and hit it on the money. Landed exactly where I had envisioned it - two yards long - and spun back for an easy tap in. I still think about that shot every time I blade a wedge into the next time zone and wonder where it came from.

Alas, it was my most memorable par. #15 at Wisconsin’s U-Ridge is a short dogleg right, downhill from the tee boxes. Via the fairway was under 300 yards. Hit a hard pull right, missed the trees on the right blocking the green, hit the cart path and took off towards the green like a rocket. Ended up pin high on the left side of the green. The green is steeply sloped and the pin was on the far right side. Took a 3 putt with the ball hooking hard right crossing the green laterally. But, the only time I drove a green on a hole longer than a par 3. Neither have I reached a par 5 in 2.

got a few memorable ones but recently it was a drive on a 354m par 4 that finished about 8 feet from the pin. was a nice day and a ridiculous wind came up half way around. The kind of wind you would back off your shots for. the hole was straight behind and a perfect baby fade into a slight dogleg right hole. Knew it was in the middle of the fairway but just kept on walking and there it was on the green.

Almost jarred my tee shot on a 120-yard Par 3 with my T300 9-iron. Lucky that it only kicked a few inches away off the pin for the birdie, but it was pretty wild to see the ball track perfectly, then clank off the flagstick. Still waiting for my first Titleist ace (I had one when I played Cally’s several years ago), but this was pretty damn close.

Falcon Valley Golf Course, a local 9-hole championship course, hole 6, a short par 4 with 2 fairway bunkers just short of the end of the fairway to the right of the green. I put my tee shot into the bunker closest to the green, still about 20-25 yards from the pin. I'm just hoping to get out of the bunker, not thinking I'm getting it anywhere near the green, let alone the hole. Hit the best bunker shot of my life (Vokey SM9 56.10 S), stopped the ball 5 feet from the hole, knocked it in for birdie.

About 3 months later, same hole, pin set closer to the front of the green this time, hit my drive into the same bunker. This time, I put my shot 2 feet from the hole to birdie yet again...

Mine was actually in a scramble. It was a long time ago when I was much younger and more limber than I am now. Haha. It was on a weird hole. A real sharp dogleg par 4 with a pretty large woods stopping most from trying to cut the corner. The first two in my group were already out in the fairway so my buddy and I tried to hit one over the woods. It was only about a 250 yard straight shot to the green. His got caught up in the top of one of the trees and didn't make it. So, I tee'd the ball as high I could and let it rip. Somehow it just misses the top of the trees. We don't hear it hit anything so maybe I got lucky. When we get around the corner, there is my ball less than a foot from the hole. Tap in Eagle. We won that scramble by one stroke. Only one I've ever won.
  21. Great shot. Love the pic of the shot

A couple years ago I had the pleasure to talk with David Leadbetter , he asked me which club I loved to hit consistently . I told him my 9i and I hit it 100-110 (I'm 70).He told me to shoot for that yardage out, I still do this to this day ,changed how I play this game.

Playing The Classic Club out in the desert, it was a series of three shots all with Titleist(Scotty C) clubs. Par 5 starts with a bombed drive that was center cut. Per GPS, had 238 in to a middle pin. Said to myself, you're not laying up and waited for the green to clear. Took 3 hybrid and smoked the heck outta it to 14 feet. Uphilland left to right putt. Hardest part was ignoring the guys telling me "You know what this putt is for!". Drained putt and bogeyed the next two holes!
  26. Great eagle! Yes the toughest part is to follow up a great hole

Not sure if it was my greatest, but most memorable would be when I was playing hole 16 at Cypress Point. I hooked my tee ball to the left, pin high but in the cabbage standing on the edge of a cliff. I managed to get it out and two putt.

Second shot from the 10th fairway at Winchester in Northern California. A 457 yard dogleg left par 4 with an extremely narrow shot to the green. Pin was in the back at 220 yards out, and I hit a 4 iron U505. One of those swings where everything felt perfect, and if not for the distinct click of the U505 sweet spot, I wouldn't have even known I hit it. With my old eyes all I could see was the ball headed straight for the front of the green. Assumed I would be just off the front of the green, but as I got closer I could see a ball 4 feet from the pin. Never occurred to me it was my ball until I started getting the high fives walking across the bridge to the green. One of the toughest par 4's on the west coast, and a birdie there would be an honor. But alas, that will be another day. My knees were shaking so much I came up 3" short on the putt. If you can't get it to the hole, odds are you'll miss the putt.

Holed a 7-iron on the last hole of a match play tournament, to win. A little crowd around the green waiting for us, have to admit that's the most nervous I've ever been. The minute it left the club my competitor even said, "Game over", cool moment. We still talk about that one just about every time I see him. Sidenote: He's the one with over 20 Club Championship trophies, I have 2. He uses that to even the score, but I still have THAT match play trophy.
  30. I was managing restaurants at the Hyatt in New Orleans and the GM drafted me to play in the tournament against other hotels. I know it was for bragging rights for the GM, but I also know there was some serious coin on the table. We played a scramble in the wind and rain, I hit a 180 yd 6 iron to 2 ft. for the win.

Pro V1 X landed about 2 feet in front of pin, one hop into hole for Eagle on par 5 565 yards; PW from 115 yards. Best thing was the surprise look on my playing partner's face when yelled it was in...he was too busy to be watching my shot, checking his emails on his cell!

I was playing a 9 hole course with my son in-law. One a Par 4, I sliced my drive onto an adjacent fairway. Son in-law was just off the green. Between me and the green was a huge net and a bunch of tall evergreens. The shot called for a really high fade. I hit the shot but couldn’t see what happened for a second and then saw the son in-law jumping up and yelling about 50 yards in front of the green. As I got closer, he yelled out that my shot took be bounce on the green and then went in the hole.
