Hey Titleist Fans!
I've been deployed here in Afghanistan for the last 8 months along the Pakistani border. I'm a Recon Ranger qualified platoon leader that is currently in charge of an Infantry Rifle Platoon conducting full spectrum combat operations in Afghanistan. I will be heading home soon and have been anxiously anticipating getting back on the golf course. Back home I play with Vokey spin milled wedges and a Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter. I look forward to getting fitted for new irons and woods. I am leaning towards the AP 2's. I also play with the Pro V1 ball and have a black and rust-colored Titleist staff bag.
We don't get much free time over here and the fighting has been intense. However, I took the time to hit some golf balls from an Afghan Border Police (ABP) outpost into Pakistan. I warmed up with a few practice swings and put on my Iowa Hawkeye Titleist ball cap. Swinging in a plate carrier loaded with a radio, gps, ammo, etc. is much harder than I thought. I hit a 6 iron shot that sailed roughly 170 yards into Pakistan. The ABP erupted into applause. After hitting my first shot into Pakistan we heard gun shots being fired in the distance back in Afghanistan. We all took cover and the ABP informed me it was just a wedding party celebrating in a village. My second shot clipped a tree and only traveled about 100 yards into Pakistan.
It was a great experience and I was proud to be a Titleist brand ambassador in Afghanistan! Keep those greens in good shape for me back in America. Look forward to seeing you guys around!

Setting up to the ball.

Getting back to parallel on my backswing was difficult due to the plate carrier.

Starting the downswing. Not too happy the ball in front of me was not a Titleist Pro V1.
