Moved back to the yellow today, shot an 80 40-40 8 gir, 5 fairways, 0 of 5 up and downs, 0 of 1 sand saves, 34 putts.

80 from the middle is 8.1, 80 from the yellow is 6.6

I've been shooting in the 70's from the middle so I decided it was time to move back.

I thought the biggest problem would be the par 3's going from 165-170 to 190, 150-160 to 180, 140ish to 150(no biggy), 150ish to 170.

I did bogey the first one(that was my failed sand save), but par'd the rest.

Missed a lot of fairways, but the tee shot from the yellow looks so much safer.

I might try the back if I'm doing good from the yellow for a while, but the par 3's go 190-225, that's a long way.

I might go back out again later today. It was steamy hot, I guess its trying to dry out the course, it's getting there, we haven't had rain since Thursday night, this is the longest stretch for a long time.

    John,

Looking at your stats, you had a great chance to shoot in the mid 70's even with playing the back tees.  8 greens on an off day is not far off at all.  In fact, often PGA Tour players hit that many greens but it is there ability to get the ball up and down that keeps there score around par even on their bad days.

I would keep playing the same tees and really work hard on your short game.  It always helps to see a PGA Professional in your area that specializes in the art of the short game.

I think today I figured out my short game problem, its just recent that it went kaput.

I think it is because I started taking a longer backswing and letting the clubhead fall into the ball, instead of accelerating thru it.

So today out playing around, using some different wedges and a couple other clubs, including another a new to me driver. I noticed that I wasn't powering thru the shot and I started making sure I did, and what do you know I started controlling the ball again. I guess I'm ready for another round tomorrow.

One thing I know for sure is problem is getting behind some extremely slow people, we were just playing around and taking our time today and we waited forever on each tee. So we're starting at 7:30 tomorrow.

    Nice round Julian.

Here we've had a lot of low 40's and a couple days down in the 30's and rain rain rain, in late May!!!! Now we're getting the heat, upper 90's and steamy. But not today, most of the moister has been drawn out of the ground and its only 86 at 1:30, getting nice.

Last week i moved back a tee and surprisingly didn't do as bad as i thought i was going to do. I shot about 2 strokes higher than my average round. Just have an extra club or two into the greens.

Course is mostly dry, temp was cool(nice), little breeze, started early waiting on no one, condition were just the best they possibly could have been.

96 with 7 esc strokes, it was horrible today, I just wanted to get done and get home.

Couldn't hit the ball straight, couldn't curve it correctly, couldn't even get the ball started in the right direction.

On the brite side, once I got close to the green I could pitch and putt.

Maybe a rest from golf this weekend will help.
