My beloved and I are taking our vacation in October and we decided to stick the clubs in the car and take a mini-road trip for a week starting from Monterey and going south until we feel like coming back, probably as far as Santa Barbara or northern Ventura County. Our only must course in Monterey will be Pacific Grove (my favorite). Other than that we don't have a list of courses that we have to play. A few high end courses are fine, the rest can be more value priced courses. So, I'm putting it out to my fellow Team Titleist members, what courses should we play?

    Thanks in advance!

Minus the phenomenal courses on 17 mile drive. Here are some that I would recommend in that region

    Pasatiempo - Santa Cruz

    Bayonet Black Horse - Seaside

    If you're traveling further south...

    La Purisma - Lompoc

    Sandpiper - Goleta

Rancho San Marcos - Santa Barbara

Ojai Valley Inn and Spa - Ojai

    Olivas Links - Ventura

I'm sure there are other great places in between but, you won't be disappointed with any of those courses.

Sandpiper and Rancho San Marcos are great! I really loved Sandpiper, and both courses are owned by the same group. If you play one, they give you a deal on the other one. The locals call Sandpiper poor man's pebble. Oliva's links is a good one too. I also like River Ridge. They have 36 holes and was a fun track to play

    Spanish Bay

    Spyglass

Bayonet and Black Horse,  I like the Bayonet course better.

    Poppy Hills

    Del Monte

Peter Hay if you want to practice short game, it's a par 27 9 hole course accross the street from Pebble Beach, $30 and golf is unlimited

Go to the Golf Links To The Past store at Pebble Beach, where you can see a USA Staff bag and headcovers owned by a Tour pro and a Scotty Cameron GSS M3  Tour putter, welded flare neck with hand stamped snow in robbins egg blue on the flange, robbins egg blue leather laced stitched grip and a blue alligator hc and engine turned sole. The putter is beautiful and can be yours for $10K. They also have lots of golf memorabilia from the old days to the present.

Thanks for the responses. This trip is with my wife, so the courses on the list will be on the easy side-Pacific Grove, Morro Bay, Peter Hay for the novelty factor. I'm going to try Sandpiper as well.

Del Monte's not too bad, no water and not too tight.

Monterey Pines Golf Course is easier, only 5,556 yards, par 69 and during the week $18 - $34 and weekends $20 - $37

There's also Rancho Canada on Carmel Valley Rd. in Carmel. There are two 18 hole courses to choose from.

Carmel Valley Ranch is a great spot to stay and play.  If you can, get over and play Poppy Hills, it is amazing.

Those are some good courses listed up there by TT.  If I could add one more, Monarch Dunes GC is also a nice course which probably will not be as difficult or tough to play compared to some on the list.  But it's nice and easy on the eyes and real fun to play.  The practice facility is spacious and are adjacent to one of the most gorgeous par 3 course I've seen- a mini of the old course as some would say.  It is just south of San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach.  http://www.monarchdunes.com/m/  ...oh, I just thought of another one, Cypress Ridge GC which rivals Monarch Dunes.  Also a good course, but not as unique as Monarch Dunes.  Have a wonderful time !!

Just a slight change for the web link, the one I had up there was for a mobile device. Here's the desktop link for Monarch Dunes GC. http://www.monarchdunes.com/ This one just shows more photo of it if you were interested.
