Just thought I'd see if anyone else uses different clubs for the winter season, especially over here in the UK.

I know there's been several discussions around changing the ball but what about clubs.

I decided to swap my T2OO 4 iron which I also use as a sort of driving iron out for an old hybrid (Titleist of course). With the really wet and therefore soft conditions, the hybrid has been really useful and easier to hit from some interesting lies. It's also pretty good at chipping around the greens when you get worm casts etc

I've also used a slightly heavier putter which has been a great help on slower greens.

I play the same clubs and pro v balls no matter what the weather / conditions are all year round.
Occasionally I’ll switch to AVX ball in high wind / heavy rain.
You loose roughly maybe 10 / 15 yards in winter compared to summer ball flight, I normally go with a club more.

I tend to keep my bag the same apart from golf ball change. November to February i switch to the avx as it seems to fly better and its nice and soft for a nice 4 iron thin

Yep, nothing beats a left dash/thinned 4i combination

I use a different / heavier putter in the winter as the greens are generally slower
I also usually change to a 9 club bag, to force me to practice more shot types, but they are the same clubs

I follow the same approach as you Martin, driving iron out and hybrid in. The extra carry of the hybrid (818h2) just makes sense, not to mention the added versatility from wet / damp lies.
  7. Same clubs all year round for me.
I do admit to messing about with the ball I use in winter - I object to giving up ProV's to the winter course.

I might leave out my driver in the winter but don't put in anything as a replacement.

The way the weather is at present and the amount of time my course is Closed, it doesn't make much difference.
I think I've been on the Driving Range more than the Course this winter.

  8. I swap between 5 wood and 2 iron all throughout the year depending on course and conditions but with wetter conditions in winter 5 wood getting game time at the moment
  9. I change my putter to a square back in the winter. don't want to ruin my T22

I also change my lob wedge so it has more bounce, can use the low bounce in the winter as it disappears into the ground.

Apart from that exactly the same

I don't change clubs but I remove them. In winter I carry so to reduce the weight I take out some clubs I might not need.
Sometime I take out the even or odd number irons, reduce the number of wedges and sometimes I don't take driver out when the tees are forward and off mats.

I don’t change much if anything. I would maybe change out the ball sometime but I stopped doing that because I just want to have the confidence of knowing how the ball would react around the greens.

I have changed over the years, trying various set ups. Winter vs Summer. But I do change the wedges and add an additional hybrid.

Wedges because I generally do not require so much height due to the softer conditions and the hybrid to get more carry .

But I cant wait for Spring to come around
