It occurred to me that despite all the marketing hype and multi-million dollar deals for pro's to play a specific brand, do the players and the brand really benefit from it.
Take Rory at The Players using the second version of the TM driver for the first time in tournament play (possibly under orders) when he was having a pretty good season with the old one. Oops and a missed cut. And previously DJ preferring v1 and not v2 of the previous TM driver.
When TSR's are used by the leading tour pro's in advance of the launch and with success (I believe 1st and 2nd at 150th Open). Possibly those drivers being tested and bedded in well in advance and without pressure to play them.
So has Titleist got it right with the mid-season tour validation before launch, and does the two year upgrade give the pro's more confidence to switch rather being pressured to play the latest?
With Rory's discomfort at having to bed in a driver he doesn't want to use and his switch to Vokey wedges any chance we could see him with more Titleist in the bag soon?
