I wish i could predict when i'm going to make a fabulous up and down and tell one of my playing partners to film it, lol. i did hole a difficult greenside bunker shot this past saturday with my vokey sm6 58.12 :D

I just ordered 4 new SM7 wedges from The Netherlands at St. Ives. Unfortunately no bag tag yet!!

The best story I have for up and downs is 3 chip ins on the first 11 holes at our club event last July. Unfortunately, those were the only birdies our 2 man team made that day.

So I am hiring my 10 years old son to follow me around and filming all of my shots this month

My favorite and best UP AND DOWN story happened at my old country club a few years ago.

I was playing with the best player at the club. It was the 9th hole. I was having a great game. It was an amazing day.

I was feeling very confident and of course, cocky. I was striking the ball well. From tee to green.

I stood on the 9th tee box.

On the left side was the 10th rough/fairway.

On the right side, the range. O.B.

A very narrow fairway which peaked at around 250-260, with a steep incline and steep decline on both sides.

I was one under going into the 9th.

All I had to do was par in for a 35. Which at that time, was my best nine hole score ever.

It was an easy hole. Not a problem. Or so I thought..

I teed up my trusty PROV1. #77. With a purple V for "Vern," on it.

I quickly, efficiently and effortlessly, sliced my drive into the range. O - F'ing B.!

But I wasn't mad. Or deterred in the least. Water off a duck (yeah, right!) Ha!

I reloaded. Confident. Focused.

Tee up another ProV purple 77.

I pulled it to the top of the hill. Left side. Over corrected, right...?

Now I lie three. In the left rough. 121 yards to the pin. No wind.

Here's the best part..

My mom, who never, ever, comes on the course when I play, for some reason, drove up in her cart that day. Why...? I still don't know.

I don't remember what she said, but I said, "Mom. Watch this."

"Okay." She said. Then let me do my work. As she always does. The greatest supporter in the world.

I pulled out my go-to wedge. Vokey SM6. 50/12.

Took a practice swing. Focused. Pulled the trigger.

Of course, you know what happened.

HOLED IT for a PAR 4! One under, baby! 35!

My mom and my buddy yelled. Applauded. I felt great.

It was one of the best days on the golf course ever!

#1 Wedges in Golf.

To bad you guys do not have the up and down I had last year at the TTI at the TPC to save par with my SM6. We did a lot of celebrating. I know the photographer was there taking pictures and don't know if they were stills or video.

Sorry, I have no pictures to share but I would like to comment about Vokey wedges. For years I've shied away from them. It was more out of respect than any disappointment. To me they represented the game I wish I had. Consequently, I gravitated to png, cally and Cleveland. The "feel" was never there and good shots were more random luck than anything else. Recently, I switched over to the SM7. Started with the 60/S grind and added a 56 and 52 F grind. That I'm happy with the results is an understatement. The weight of the head and corresponding balance of the wedge shaft have resulted in a vast improvement in my wedge game. The feel is there. My only regret is that it took me this long to recognize the value of adding Vokey wedges to my bag.
