Good question. It will typically depend on how the day goes. I've played Pro V1x for a few years now and at times I've used the same ball for 3-4 rounds. They get faded and slightly scuffed but I don't find that it hinders performance in anyway. If it's too scuffed it goes into the shag bag.

Play Pro V1-X...change after multiple full sand wedge shots, as my Vokey 56* scares it quite a bit. If I don't have to hit full Vokeys, I can play 2 or 3 rounds with same ball.

I use the NXT TOUR S and I never play more than 18 with it. Less with anything that mars the surface.

Playing the Titleist Trusoft and usually end up losing the ball before really needing to replace it, but if I'm playing well I can usually get about 3 rounds out of one.
  5. Until I loose it in the woods...or the water. Whichever comes first.

I play the prov1. I would say I play three rounds with a ball unless it gets a knick in it, or I lose it. Today's pro v stands up better than earlier versions

ProV1X's that last one - two rounds, I'll reward them to a very lazy (and lonely) retirement in my practice bag. Or, when the cover starts to feel like raspy wine tannins, it's time to get a new one out.

I prefer Pro V1x, and I'm cheap. I start the round with a new or like new ball. I'll play it until lost or the cover is damaged. Then I'll pull out the next ball from my bag, either new, gently used or one I find, but it typically is Pro V.

I usually only play 9 holes, so I try to keep the ball in bounds and out of water. If lucky I can get 36 holes with one ball. Reality says I am lucky to play 9 holes without landing in the water or over the fence at lest once.

I carry between 9 and 12 balls in my bag, and will rotate them through my rounds. I walk a lot so whatever I find, I will use, as long as it's a Titleist. I prefer the ProV1 when it's not real warm, but in the dead of Summer, I like the ProV1x. Don't know why, but the x seems to react better when it's warm. Will play with the ball I pull out at the start unless I lose it. The newer models of all the Titleists seem to hold up, and will come back looking good after a turn at the ball washer. Mike
  12. I play the ProV1, and I can play one ball for over 72 holes. I probably should swap them out more often, but they only get sent to shag duty if there are cuts or major scuff marks. I even played my most recent tournament with one ball that had already seen 18 holes.

Why do ProV1 and ProV1x lose it's whiteness after 18 holes or so?

I play the Pro V1X and can definitely get 36 out of it. Unless I am playing in a tournament, I always tee off with the ball I finished the last round with and rotate in a new ball on 2 or 3. Pet peeve to lose a brand new ball on the first tee if I haven't warmed up.
  15. Start the round with a new ProV1x, then toss it away at end of the round. It did its duty!

I play the pro v1x. On a average I get between 36 to 54 holes in unless I lose it, or it loses it's luster. Then I will change to get my distance back.

Prov1x at least 3 rounds then into reserve if I lose a new one
  18. I play the Pro V1X and carry two balls around alternating each hole. I always start the round with new balls putting used balls into the shag bag for practice. That way, I use the same ball in practice as I do on the course.

I play two new balls every round. I reply the balls later in the season when the leaves start falling in Connecticut.
