Iridescent yellow! I love them already.
  2. Received 3 black #1 TEST 2 days ago. Played yesterday using the Titleist on the back 9 after a Bridgestone E6 on the front. Titleist was much longer off the tee with less fade than usual. Hybrid and irons felt great and ball had good action around greens and putted very well. Wish I knew what this will be as a regular Titleist model. Any way to find out?

They never tell us what ball it is. I wish they would.
  4. I was quite excited to see test balls come in Yellow. All of my comments from previous test versions have stated that yellow is my preferred color. By looking at them, they appear to not be of the Pro V dimple pattern, nor the AVX, so Im led to believe they are the new NXT series, which I never liked that much. Living in PA, not sure how many more times I can get out to play this year. So happy to be part of this years test batch. Thanks Titleist !

received mine yesterday (white). They feel like a nxt putting in the house. I'll get them on course tomorrow.
  6. The first thing I noticed right away was how soft the golf ball was...I got my sleeve Monday of this past week. Played a round with a single ball on Friday and really liked the results. Definitely straighter flight off the tee and from the fairway/rough. Didn't have a problem getting it up in the air. On misshits the ball seems to spin similar to other balls, but honestly didn't seem as far off line. Moving forward I want to play a single ball so that part of my game is taken care off. My dream is to get fit in 2018 and take my game to the next level. I appreciate the golf balls Titleist!

I received the white Titleist 1 "test" ball last week. The first round with the "test" ball I shot a 71. The ball was longer off the tee by 10 to 15 yards and stopped on a dime with short to mid-irons into the green. Can't wait for the ball to be released in the spring. Definitely will compete well with the cally Chrome Soft.
  9. I received the white test ball last week and put it in play this weekend. My evaluation day was very windy so some factors of the ball was hard to evaluate. I liked the feel of the ball and it seemed to fly straighter and with a little more driver distance than my Tour Preferred. I hit a drive off of some rocks and the cover showed little wear, it is very durable. I'd have no problem putting this ball into play.
  10. Played the test ball,Sunday, along with my regular ball, Taylor Made Project A. Balls were about even, tee to about 50-60 yards out. From that point, Project A was better at stopping/ check up. Is this the AVX ball?

I also play the project A, simply because it is similar to the NXT Tour but I can get it in yellow. This ball has a much straighter ball flight with more distance. I did seem to have more spin off my driver, although I was not having a very good day with that club. Very straight and much longer when I hit my three-wood off the tee. Not much spin on the green, however, they were very soft.
  12. Received my White Titleist "test" balls last week. Played three rounds with them. Seem soft and have good feel on greens. Driver was longer. I was especially impressed with how straight the ball went on longer iron and hybrid shots. It will be interesting to find out what ball this is.

Gto the balls middle of last week and played two rounds with them over the weekend. I normally play NXT Tour S, The test balls seem to fly very well and gave me a few yards extra length. The conditions were not very conducive to compare spin around the greens. Greens were hard and it was windy. Difficult to fairly review, but I don't think ball was as soft as NXT S and was a bit 'clicky' sounding off the putter. Strangely though, I think I preferred the test balls to the NXT S. Overall a great experience and hope to get better at the job of 'reviewer'!!

  15. Received a sleeve on Thursday, played them on Saturday morning. I normally play the cally Chrome Soft with a 9 handicap. The prototype ball that was sent seemed to not have as much spin control into the greens, but they absolutely loved to be struck for long shots and drives!! BUT....if they are mis-hit with a driver....you might as well kiss that one good bye. Very unforgiving off of the driver face. They are fantastic for driving, fairway and long irons to maximize distance. Overall, not a terrible golf ball in my opinion.

Received mine....really enjoyed testing them out. I like this prototype ball a lot. Nice soft feel. Feels similar to NXT Tour or NXT Tour S.
    Appreciate the opportunity!
Hopefully those of us who tested and reviewed can find out what the ball will be called so we can buy them when they hit the market.... :-)

You'll find out about six months after you receive the test balls (at least that's what happened to me the last time)

I liked them a lot. They were white and felt soft. A tick more distance the cally Truvis. Liked the soft feel when putting. The check spin was comparable on wedges and chipping. Couldn't judge the durability (4 rounds seems in tact). If I had a choice I would choose these if they came in yellow (I see the ball better).
  19. Played very similar to my nxt s. more distance off full iron shots. more spin around the greens

I got the balls last week and have already played them. I usually play the prov1 or the x, and I came away from my first 18 with them thinking that they play a little softer and I seem to have a little better control. I like them.

I received the white prototypes. They felt harder off the tee than ProV1x's and lacked a bit of spin around the greens for me. The distance is still there even in cool temperatures. Felt good coming off the face of irons. Thanks for letting me try these out.

I like the ball very much. It has resilience and a comparatively soft feel on the cover. Ball flight was true and seemed to fly quite well.

Got a chance to give my yellow test balls a spin this weekend. Played 9 holes with a ProV1x and then 9 with the test ball. Just for a point of reference, I'm a 5.6 handicap and my swing speed is in the 106-110 mph range with the driver.

Warming up on the putting green before the round I was really rolling the test ball well. Felt very soft off the putter face and I was getting consistent results with my distance. A good first impression.

On the front the ProV1x played just as it normally does. When I made a bad swing, I'd get a little too much sidespin and miss right or left.

On the back I switched to the test ball and right away my mishits seemed to straighten out. I could still work the ball left or right, but dispersion seemed much more controlled than with a normal premium urethane ball. Distance seemed right around the same as the ProV1X. Maybe slightly shorter(?), but any difference seemed negligible. The ball felt very soft to me off the face on full swings. I can take or leave that type of soft feel off the woods, but I really did love the way it felt off the irons. There wasn't much backspin to speak of, but the test ball launched high, certainly higher than the ProV1x, and held greens based on the steeper angle of descent. It was rather windy, but the ball held it's line well and I think it performed a little better into the wind than my ProV1x (the ProV1x seemed to be longer downwind - probably a result of the increased spin). Overall, I really liked the ball with the woods, irons and putter, but especially on full iron shots. Oh, and it's very durable as well. Played the entire back nine with one ball and it didn't show much in the way of wear.

The one big con I have about the ball was the lack of greenside/short game spin. The ball had very little spin off my 58* wedge. Everything rolled out. I typically play most shots with a use the bounce technique so spin doesn't matter as much, but I also like to hit that low flighted hop and stop greenside pitch and this ball just didn't respond at all. Same goes with bunker shots. Just couldn't put any spin on the ball.

I have never played an NXT, so I can't compare it to that ball and this very well could be the new NXT. As for balls I've actually played (and I've played a bunch), I'd say the closest comparison in both feel and performance is the first generation Chrome Soft. Those balls felt great and launched high off the irons, and performed well in the wind, but didn't have much in the way of greenside zip either. The one major difference, and where I found the "test" ball to be superior, was that the test ball launches much higher and carries further than the first gen Chrome Soft with my driver and fairway woods. I never could really get the Chrome Soft up with the woods. It just flew sort of flat and dead. Not the case with the yellow test ball.

Overall, I liked the test ball and could definitely see myself playing it during recreational rounds or on windy days. I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable putting it into play in a tournament setting only because it is limited in what you can do with it greenside.

Thank you again to Team Titleist for giving me the opportunity to test the balls!

Was not fond of the NXT Tour S in the past and still not liking the new test ball ( guess it was the NXT Tour S from the dimple design ).
The test ball felt like two different golf balls with the long clubs and the short ones.
Two very different feel without the harmony of smooth transition.
