    Thanks for the white boxes and the chance to test the new line. About a year ago, I had the opportunity to go through a ball fitting with Titleist Ball Fitter Connor Mangelson, and the result there was the Pro V1X fit best, through wedge, 7 iron, driver, and putter testing. I found that between the two balls, it held consistent, as the 348 seemed optimal. Both of course are great, and while there was a slight increase in distance with the 388, the crisp feel with the 348, especially in short shots, chips, and putts, is my continued go to. I will continue to test with them, as one ball is getting to go into its third round today, and I am still breaking in new T300's (which also I think contribute to some of the differences from my last testing with older clubs).     Thanks for including me. This is my first go.
    I’ll give you my initial take but will update as I experiment more.
    These reactions are based on a 1 hour session on my Club’s simulator. I thought a side by side was really only possible with data to back up my feel.
    One last opening comment: I play the V1 today and have for years. Nothing else comes close so I dont expect huge improvements.
    New 388
    A few yards longer on drives with slightly higher flight. This ball feels like it stays on the face longer.
    I really notice this more with the irons. The irons go just about the same distance but I like the initial flight better more of a straight line climb and drop the the Current V1 which is a bit more rounded.
    Short shots I feel better control great hands feedback and sound.

    Thank you, Team Titleist for the opportunity to use the 348 and 388 PROTO. Tried both the 348 and the 388 yesterday. !st strike with the 388 had an excellent feel and an exciting sound, I think the 388 maybe the longest ball I have hit. Both balls seemed to react nicely on the green I even backed the 348 up a little. The 348 seemed to have a lower ball flight with a little more runout off the tee. The 388 carried farther but did not release as much. The 388 seemed to be longer in overall distance.
    i look forward to playing more with the 348 and 388.

    I've jumped from Pro V1 to AVX to Pro V1x on and off the last few years. In my limited time with the the Proto 388 and the 348, I felt the 388 was a bit softer during putting than the old Pro v1 and the 348 Proto was in between the older versions of Pro v1 and the Pro v1x in terms of softness. Besides the feel of the ball, both of the Proto's seemed to be just slightly better than their older counter part. The Proto 388 which I seemed to be the newer Pro v1 version spun great with the low irons while still giving the distance I am used to. The Proto 348 seemed to be a slightly softer version of the pro v1x while keeping all of its normal characteristics. I personally liked the new Protos. I am big on how the golf ball feels during putting. I have typically gravitated towards the Pro v1 and the AVX, but the new Pro v1x proto has me considering giving that one a try. Overall great job by Titleist as always!

    First, thank you Titleist for including me in this testing! I have loved doing this for the past few years now, but this year was the biggest noticeable difference.

    348 Proto
    Really impressed with the feel of this ball, especially shorter irons, short game, and really feel it off the putter. This golf ball feels so good putting. It's not just softer but has a more consistent strike point; the only way I can describe it is that I feel like the strike through the ball is centered and more consistent. I didn't feel much of a difference off the Driver/3 wood, same consistency I normally feel when playing the ProV1x.

    388 Proto
    Genuinely impressed with the advances from the prior generation ProV1. I've always played the ProV1x because the best part of my game is irons, short game, and putter, and the ProV1x performs better than every ball on the market for me in that aspect. But the ProV1 always performed the best for me off the Tee. This ProV1 is exceptional. The feel is dramatically better than the prior ProV1 in the short game area for me, to the point I will likely switch to this ProV1 ball. Putting this prototype ball feels very similar to the ProV1x and makes the prior generation ProV1 feel inconsistent and a rather large smacking, which was the major turnoff for me....until now. To have a ball perform ALMOST as well as the ProV1x around and on the greens, but perform way better for me off the tee is a game changer for me.

    I like the PV1 better than the PV1X. The PV1 has a lower more consistent flight. The PV1X goes a bit further and higher, but noticed more spin with wedges than desired. Durability seems the same. PV1 seems to have a softer feel. Seems that the Prototype might provide a bit more consistent ball flight than the old PV1. May have just been a good ball striking day with a good golf ball.

    Prototype PRO V1 vs 2022 model
    Driver: lower trajectory off and a little longer
    Irons: same trajectory, little longer better feel
    Chipping: no difference
    Overall 388 is an improvement.

    Practiced short game shots with both balls. First quality I noticed was the sound of solid contact on pitches. The feel that accompanied the “click” was a pleasant surprise! Spin was what you’d expect from the ProV1 and ProV1x. Have played 18 with both the 348 and 388. The 388 seemed a bit longer. But I prefer the 348 with full shots due to the softer feel off the face. Look forward to putting the new ball in play as soon as it’s made available for purchase.

    Playing on Jekyll Island for a few days on our way to Sarasota. For last two days have played the 348 (red) for front nine and 388 (black) on the back. It seems as if I am getting maybe 5-10 yards more distance, particularly with my TSi3 driver and TSi2 fairway wood. Subjectively it seems as if the spin rates of both balls is a little higher, with the 348 more pronounced. Both balls feel great off the club face, and the 348 checks up very quickly. Nice soft feel off the putter face, and pretty tight dispersion on both woods and irons. Able to baby draw and fade. Have been playing Pro V1’s for last few years (buy 3 dozen get 4th dozen free, customized with age number…last year all 79’s ) but with the way the 348s are performing, that could be the go-to ball for my next order. I’ll keep playing with these sleeves and report more, but so far neither ball shows much sign that it’s been hit, so I’ll probably get quite a bit more testing done. Thanks for including me in the test group.

    I appreciate the opportunity to have tried and still trying the protocol 348 and 388. I normally play the pro V1x. I played a few rounds when weather permitted in northern Ohio, alternating between the two models. I think the 388 won out slightly with distance and green side feel and spin. The 348 wasn’t far behind though. I may be switching to the pro v1 as my ball of choice although I wouldn’t hesitate playing either. We’ll done Titleist!

    Thought the new Pro V1. felt great. Great feel and ball flight. Definitely improvement. Better spin and distance.
    Pro V1x …. Ok but not a user of this ball. Pro V1 for life.

    I have been a ProV1X guy, ever since they were first introduced, but was looking forward to seeing how the new ProV1 performed on this beautiful fall day in Ohio. Truth be told, I was like a kid in a candy store because my new TSR3 driver had been in the bag for several weeks but between weather and work there was simply no time to hit the links. I ripped the plastic off the driver head and striped a new X down the fairway. I consistently interchanged the two balls often hitting one of each from the same spot. It was easy for me to feel how much softer the ProV1 was to the X but from a performance standpoint it was difficult to distinguish between the two. Distance wise they performed well and I may have even gained a few yards off of the tee with both balls. The stop and drop spin remains true with a variety of wedge shots and around the green I did not detect any difference other than the softness of the ProV1. I enjoyed playing both balls and even though I am still an “X” man I won’t hesitate to give the original ProV1 a chance to win me over. Thanks Titleist!

    There was a notable difference in the two. The pro V1 felt softer, flew higher and landed softer. The pro V1x seemed more boring in flight. I have only played one round with each. I would be curious to know what the different dimple pattern does to the ball flight. If I picked today I would choose the pro V1.

    I have been a loyal ProV1X guy ever since it was introduced. That being said, I was excited to test both of the new balls on a beautiful fall day in Ohio....probably the last one we will have! Better still, I have been itching to take out my new TSR3 driver that has been in the bag for several weeks now but with the lousy weather and work schedule there was no time to give it a workout. After ripping the plastic off of my new "Big Dog," I alternated tee shots between the ProV1X and the ProV1. As expected, I could immediately detect the softer ProV1 even though both flew equally as far and possibly even a bit further than the current balls. Full wedge shots as well as shots around the green with consistent with what I have come to expect in my Titleist ball. The spin did not seem more or less than what I have been accustomed to whether hitting a pitch and run or a high flop shot. Both performed equally well. Likewise, with putting, there was the noticeably softer ProV1 but aside from the feel I did not detect any difference. Even though both have different dimple configurations, I could not find any difference in how each performed. While I will continue to be that "X" man, I would have no reservations playing the new ProV1. Nice job Titleist!!!!

    The 348 had a soft feel all around. Higher trajectory, felt really good off the irons and around the reen. 388 reminded me of the current Prov1x. Distance on both comparable to the current ball. Keep up the good work and thanks for including me in the testing!

    I found both of the "white box " balls to have a firmer feel than previous models. I found the red balls to have better spin off irons to hold greens better. I was playing at sea level, and I seemed to have lost a little distance on both models, but that may be because I was at sea level not my usual environment. I need to try them when I get home from this trip for additional information on which model I prefer.

    Notes from a round at Crescent Oaks in Tarpon Springs FL...

    Red Pro V1X. Feels "heavier" off the tee. Heavy second shot. Shorter distance when not hitting center of clubface.
    Played better the second hole. Solid long drive. Little spin. Heavy still in a good way.
    Crushed drive par four. Nice around the green. Good feel on putter.
    Par 4. Great drive. Crushed an 8iron 155. Over flag. Easy par. Nice feel. Still a bit weighty but in a good way.

    Black Pro V1. Flew off the tee. Crushed. Right spin for me.
    A bit maybe hollow feeling but not bad. Feels smaller somehow than the x too.
    Reliable. Handles mishits better.
    Good drive off par four. A fade. But intended. Good distance but not more than usual.

    Indeed, lost a couple due to those dang Taylor Made Clubs (Story soon to follow).
    Played in the wind day one with nothing but ProV1 Proto and the second day in the rough winds I played the same protos and last years version. I do think the control and distance were improved with the protos, and my own Titleist Clubs. Awesome trial, went all the way to Nova Scotia to try them, fantastic idea, thanks Dale.
    BTW, I also received the sample sleeves while I was in Canada, Thanks TT
