Whats the best golf course you ever played?

    For me it was Barnesley Gardens in Adairsville Ga.,stellar. Anyone else play there?

    That’s a tough question. How do I define “best”? Favorite to play, most manicured, toughest, most highly ranked? So many have different thinks I really like about them. Just glad to have had the opportunity to play so many. If I have to pick one, probably the Old Course at St. Andrews. Second might be Pebble Beach followed by Pacific Dunes. Pacific Dunes is my favorite to play on a regular basis. Make that trip every winter.

    Much like Dale, hard to define the "best". That being said, some of my favorites have been:

    North Berwick West Links
    Merion
    TPC Sawgrass
    May River Golf Club
    Turnberry
    Boston Golf Club

    Two that come to mind for me are The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island for this years TTI and Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda

    Dave, I had to look your course up since I've never heard of it, and luckily, there was a Fazio course- Barnesley Gardens on the web with some very nice picture shots of the golf course. If that's the one you speak about, I have to say that the holes they have on there were very impressive- classic looking to me and I would love to play a course like that or that course itself someday.

    Having said that, I've not been the one to play many different courses or am I just drawing blank... no, I'm not drawing a blank. (lol) There's been a few that were memorable courses like the very first course my brother and I played in Ireland, the Island GC. Its look and the way it played were very different from everything else I have ever played prior. ...excellent experiences and the memory seems it will be with me many years.

    Around here in L.A. area, I would have to say that the LACC north course, future host of the US Open 2023 is a favorite spot and I hope my friends would never quit sending invitations. It is truly a magnificent one.

    Pine Valley! Had the very good fortune to work for a great family owned business over a twenty three year period. The owner/CEO was a member and allowed some of us to enjoy a true bucket list experience on overnights with customers.
    Very blessed to have been a part of those trips and will never ever forget that part of my life. Only true golf "guys" can really understand this.

    2 come to mind- The Royal Hawiian (Oahu), and Oak Tree National (Edmond, OK).

    Tough choice, like Dale said, it depends on how define best. Wow, Dale you have played some of the best! For me it's either, Southern Hills, Oak Tree National, or Karsten Creek. My favorite is Karsten Creek. Moon Palace in Cancun, which is one of Jack's courses is really nice also!

    Yes, lucky to have been able to start checking off my bucket list the last several years. Just turned 60 this year and want to play the great ones while i can still swing the club. Lost my mom 8 years ago and it was a bit of a "wake up call" to get stuff done not knowing what might happen tomorrow.

    Having grown up, lived and worked in South Florida, I was fortunate to get to play a number of iconic courses. My favorite was Doral, where my company had membership privileges. I learned to play there, on the easier courses of the 5, but never could conquer the Blue Monster.

    The Ocean Course at Kiawah for me and Harbor Town a close 2nd. And Bellrieve here in St.Louis isn't bad either.

    Military
    Shadow Creek in Vegas. You could easily eat a filet off the fairway and banana fosters off the greens. The entire experience from the limo ride out and back, the caddies, the service, stories from caddies, locker room. I compare it to Pebble because of the $500 fee, but Pebble take a loss because of the slow play.

    I really can't answer this question because "best" could mean so much. I've been fortunate to travel with the sticks quite a bit, and there's just so many good ones.

    Hard to say when you ask, "Best." I like to say the most fun and beautiful course was the Greg Norman course in Puerto Vallarta. Where I had a Caddy and the fairways were so smooth and lush. Greens where my ball rolled so true, no bumps or anything to knock the ball off line. Such a great experince.

    Wow this is a tough question. So many variables. I would probably have to list three of them in no particular order.
    Royal Portrush (great links course), Sand Hills (just a lot of great holes in an unbelievable setting), Chicago Golf Club (Amazing golf holes on an average piece of land)!!

    Has to be St Andrews Old course,
    For me.
    The history and following in the foot steps of many great players past and present who have played there and had there pictures taken on the bridge.

    To the OP, I have played Barnsley a few times, a fun course but untimately a bit too much elevation change for it to be super high on the list. My favorite course that’s kind of up that way is Governors Town Club. It’s semi private but if you call you can still get on. It’s a Curtis Stramge design and really enjoyable.

    As to my best course I have 3 I would throw out.

    1) Troon - Pinnacle
    2) Tobacco Road
    3) Mid-Pines

    Haven't had the opportunity to play many of the great layouts of the US or the World, but again hard to narrow down to one. That being said, from what I have on the old, classic,

    Essex Country Club, Manchester-by-the Sea, Mass., Donald Ross at his finest.

    A little more modern, Harbour Town on Hilton Head. Pete Dye and Jack together. Shot making course, you have to "play" and not just bomb away.

    New "modern", Boston Golf Club, Gil Hanse gem.

    Manchester by the Sea is a great course! Lucky enough to get a few invites to play in a tournament there.

    My favorite so far is Kiawah Ocean course.. Can't beat the view.

    How Boston Golf Club? I hear good things.

    I'm a huge fan of Essex (probably my favorite in MA).
