The wait is finally over, two surgeries, nine weeks of PT in between and the doctors have said I can play golf. Not that I could before. Have played a couple of times sparingly in the past couple of weeks in between the rain and cold, but today if its official. I have been out of commission since December 2019 and our course which has be closed since March is open today to a select few and I get to play with a dear friend on the new course. It will be officially open to the public on Wednesday. Have been hitting the NEW range for the past two weeks and the NEW putting green. My focus on the range was my irons and in particular my short irons. Am very excited about playing the new design, with the new deep bunkers around the greens and some even popping up unexpectedly along the fairways and Seth Raynor type greens. The old course was built in 1929 and time for a new design. Lots of new challenges with water getting your attention on thirteen holes. She should be absolutely beautiful by spring of 2021 when the PGA Championships are in town. Cart path only for the first year. Main thing is I am ready to get out of the house and PLAY GOLF again and hopefully get my game back to where is was prior to the major back surgery in February. The T300s I bought in September are ready to be gamed and I am ready to get a few rounds under my belt so I can check out the new TSIs that I am hearing so many good things about. At least that is what my fitter told me to do and then come back to see him. Have a lot of respect for him. Look out the PROv1s will be flying today at one, hopefully in the middle of the fairway. FORE And and special thanks to my TT friends for all the support, it has been a long trek. Cheers......

Very low expectations first day out on the renovated course. Cold and windy and a hard 95, even with one birdie. Was hitting it straight 90% of the time. The new course is a tough cookie. Shot placement is the key. Monday is the day our men's senior group resumes regular play (M,W,F). Be glad to old friends and get back on schedule.
The new greens are running around 9-10 and are a real challenge. For those who like Raynor greens, you know what I mean. At least my game will improve this winter.

Happy for you to be cleared and back in the game. I hope your weather holds up so you can take advantage of your get of jail free card. Remember to pace yourself after the long layoff. Too much, too soon is a recipe for trouble.
  9. Chuck,

That is great news. Wishing you fairways and greens!

With the reopening of our course, you just never know who might show up. Monday was donors day, Tuesday was Pro/Am best ball day and today was the ribbon cutting ceremony with the mayor doing the honors and four multi past city amateur winners men's and women's, two of which are in the SCGA and SC Golf Hall of Fame. After that foursome teed off, the course officially was open to the public. During the Pro/am you must never know who might show. One local celebrity. Mr. Bill Murray, a resident of downtown Charleston, is in the middle of the group. Our Director of Golf is next to him on his left. We are heading out of town in the morning so making prep today and will not making my way back there until Monday.

Diego: Felt the same say when I had to put the clubs away, but realized it actually good to get away from golf and explore other avenues. As much as we love it, believe me there are other things in life. Found how to balance my life better over the past year and have a better appreciation of golf. Get away from all those bad habits, restructure your game and your health. Feel much better and my swing has actually slowed down, thanks to my PGA instructor and my body feels better, thanks to physiotherapist. Life is good. With respect and I do look forward to seeing you guys at the next TT event. My next goal is to work on walking eighteen holes. This should be interesting......

Congratulations on your return to the golf course. No surgeries on my end, but I missed most of the season due to the pandemic - it was a pretty lousy feeling not having the comaraderie associated with the game. I’m sure your game will be back to form in no time!

Played Monday with my senior group, actually wore shorts but in a minimum three club wind most of the back nine. One heck of a welcome back. Shot a 41 on the front but the back nine was not as nice, 46. The wind was so strong actually moved us when trying to stabilize and strike the ball. Cost me a few strokes. Good excuse as any. Had one birdie on both sides. There is still some game in the bag. Felt great to get on the newly redesigned course and to see all my friends again. Also glad to get back our weekend event in the Atlanta area. Had a blast. FELT GREAT.......
